Development work in Sector E-12 is likely to be started in the next couple of months by the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
The CDA sources told ‘The News’ that the process to acquire land in Sector E-12, which was opened in late 1980s, has been expedited and so far 20 per cent of the land has been taken over by the authority following demolition of Built up Property (BuP).
A CDA official said that hopefully they would be able to take physical possession of land falling in Sector E-12/3 and E-12/4 in the next one month. “We will make land of these two sub-sectors available for development work,” said Director Land and Rehabilitation Chaudhry Asadullah Faiz.
The official said so far they have taken physical possession of 1,200 out of total 6,400 kanals of land most of which falls in Sectors E-12/3 and E-12/4.
It has been learnt that the officials of CDA have also held successful negotiations with an influential family of Golra, which would result in taking possession of 700 to 800 kanals of land in the sector. “They have put forward some demands which we have assured will be fulfilled,” a CDA official, requesting anonymity, said.
The authority had prepared two separate lists of affected people containing 1,936 and 500 cases. However, the sources said the strategy adopted by the Directorate of Land would help in filtering out over 700 people who exist only on papers.
The CDA management had asked the affected people of BuP that they would get compensation in shape of alternate plots and cheques only when they would prove demolition of their property. “We hope the number of cases will come down considerably if we have been able to follow this strategy,” the official said.
The official said apparently there would be little problem in possessing land in Sectors E-12/2, E-12/3 and E-12/4 but the situation was very tricky in Sector E-12/1 because of congested population there
