ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to take over the land of a housing scheme in Zone-V and issue final notices to two other housing schemes for starting development work on immediate basis.
The NAB has directed the CDA to take over the land of Jeddah Town as its owner has failed to develop the land and fulfil the legal formalities despite the passage of several years. The NAB has also asked the authority to fence the 800 kanals land of the housing scheme, a senior official of CDA told Daily Times on Thursday.
Committee formed: He said the NAB and CDA had constituted a four-member committee to develop the land of the scheme. The CDA is likely to start the development work within one month, he said, adding that 1,100 allottees of the scheme had only paid the cost of the land and they would have to pay the development cost of the land to the CDA. The authority would hold a meeting with the allottees in this regard, he added.
Notices issued: He said the CDA had issued final notices to RP Corporation and New Islamabad housing schemes to start development work within 30 days, otherwise the authority would cancel their no objection certificates (NOC). The CDA has also directed them to demarcate land and submit exact number of their allottees, he said.
Action likely: The CDA official said around 20 housing schemes had not yet properly started development works and the authority would take action against them. The CDA has so far issued NOC to around 12 housing societies in Zone-II and Zone-V, he said.
He said that 44 housing societies had applied for the NOC, 30 in Zone-V and 14 in Zone-II. Under the CDA Islamabad Capital Territory Zoning regulation, 19,992 private housing schemes could be sponsored by a cooperative society registered under the Cooperative Societies Act 1925 and by a private limited company listed with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan in Zone II and V of the capital, he said.
The official said size of the scheme should not be less than 800 kanals in Zone-II, 400 kanals in Zone-V. For approval of housing scheme a housing society would have to pass four stages including approval of layout plan, approval of engineering design, issuance of NOC and completion of development work of roads and other services, he added.
