Cadet College, Hassan Abdal.

Never put your child in a Boardng school. You cannot then teach him the values of life as a father.

ksa replied on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 02:52 AM PST

dear Brother,
please dont put your son in boarding.choose a good school near your place.how u spent precious moment with your beloved one.life is short. There is no cadet school in Europe and USA.Even in seweden min age for school adm. is 7 years.

isloo replied on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 03:57 AM PST

my sincere suggestions is not to put in boarding...

Khna replied on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 04:06 AM PST

It is not simply your choice. Let your child sit in the entry tests for all the available choices. After he is selected in more than one you can have options. I think you have made a very good decision to put your son in Cadet College. I wish him well. You would not regret your decision. This is the opinion of a father who sent his son to Cadet College and I have many friend who did likewise.None of them ever regretted their decision. Although Hasan Abdal is considered best or you may say better, but your choice would depend your own logistics and family support. He will have to vacate college hostel on long weekends. During those days or other occasions he must have some one in Pakistan to visit or live with his grand parents or uncle, on whom you can rely. That would also be an emergency contact, should such need arise.
People who are talking against it, unfortunately, have absolutely no idea about it.
If you need some more information, leave your contact here, I would be pleased to answer your questions.

Khna sahib,

At what age a child can be admitted for boarding school and how we can get them prepare for entry test? what is normal monthly fee and the benefits a child can get in a boarding?
I would really appreciate if you can answer.
Many Thanks

Went to Army Burn Hall College, Abbottabad myself and would love to refer anybody to the same school.Great institution and most of the students become great community members representing Pakistan and Pakistanies well throughout teh world.

Javed replied on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 02:53 PM PST

If you love your son don't send to a boarding school. Offcourse it's your choice but it's only my humble suggestion.

Dubai replied on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 03:15 PM PST

Dear Friend! Sending your son to a boarding school will not guaruntee that he will become a geniuos. You will not know even your own child if you send him away at a very early age. However, it will be a good idea to send him to a boarding school if you plan to marry another woman who might ruin his life.

Khan replied on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 09:55 PM PST

If my memory helps me right,We have1. Cadet College Hasan Abdal, Cadet College Petaro, Cadet College Pakistan Steel, Karachi,Cadet College Patrassi, Cadet College Kohat. Just write a letter to them and you get all the information. Yes Burns Hall Abottabad is also a good School. So is Army College, Jehlum. Those are all for civilians and really a character building institutions.

I am sorry many of the writers on this forum are just writing without any experience or knowledge of the subject.

limu replied on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 11:19 PM PST

@Khna,
Yes i am aware this much that my son has to undergo a tough written test in order to qualify, but my intention in asking the question was to know about today's best rating. CCHA used to be the best in the past but as of today i get mixed opinion from some corners about this college. They say since its a punjab govt institution so the selection crieteria is no more just the merit but there have been around 30 candidates who got admission last year through back doors. Also its first time in college history that a civilian has been appointed as principal whereas in the past it always used to be from the services.Thirdly the building has gone too old and there are hardly any fundings for the college from the govt or any other corner. It would be great if someone whose sons are relative are recently studying there could say something about it. It is said that most of the new cadet colleges who have emerged recently are far better in many aspects than CCHA, like one at Kallar Kahar and Petrasi who have overseas quota too.
If you live in riyadh, just send me your contact number through email.thanks
@khan,
Thanks for making it more easier to pick one as you have listed the best colleges of pakistan.
I have a different opinion about colleges like burn hall and aitcheson college, as they are purely meant for a just a particular class of our society. Therefore people like us who come from a middle class should avoid putting their son in such colleges as it can have adverse impact on his personality, he would always tend to feel himself as inferior.
Though i don't side myself with those who oppose the idea of putting your son in boarding but have full respect for the opinion they hold.

Khan replied on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 07:20 PM PST

Khan and Khna are same. It was a misprint. I am not in Riyadh. If you like you can post your email/phone and I sure will contact you. All you said is correct. My view would be that any Cadet College would be alright.Education is just a part of overall personality development. I would be fine with any Cadet College as long as my ward gets admitted.I would be more concerned about the logistics, travelling to from college to some relative or guardian in Pakistan during breaks.

To me hasanabdal seems best, their mission remains the same train medical core and Engineering core cadets they are truly carrying on catchpoles and Sqdldr Nabegs mission. The building, atmosphere, faculty best on the planet.
Plz dont comment against Professor Muhammed Asif Malik, the cahp was trained by sqdldr Nabeg and is here from 2may 1968.
Hasanabdal is still under GSO2 umbrella it feeds kakul and risalpur.
I think Sir your mistaken till date i havent seen a backdoor entry at this college, the collge apart from entry test takes aptitude test before the interview pass that then ye can enter.College truly prepares young boys to tackle with the future.Yes Petaro is much better option than Kohat at least your chap would get to join the navy.Petaro has another scheme naval bond cadets no fee only building fund contact your nearest Navy recruitment centers they'll give you the form.

Keeping gas cylinder for longer periods!!

Dear friends,

I have parked my car that is CNG fitted and shall remain parked for almost 6 months.Do i need to take any precautions for the CNG cylinder!!It is under shade and no sunlight will directly hit it but still if there is something that i can do further to avoid any mishap, pls suggest. Same is with the LPG gas cylinder, it is kept in the kitchen with main valve shut and shall remain unused for same period. Is it safe this way!!
Thanks

You may follow proactive actions suggested by Mr. Abdullah & Mr. Fayyaz but being an engineer & working in high pressure gaseous plant assure that both cylinders are safe.

I have a different, but related to CNG question. I lived in the US, but I have moved my family in Pakistan. I bought a car which runs on CNG ans as you all know CNG is not available three days a week. My question is there any kit available which you can connect to house gas and fill up tank?

Appreciate your reply.

Very well said.

BMW is still the tiny part of what those moron leaders earn from the taxes paid by the poor of Pakistan (in one or other form).

Today, the biggest earnings come from selling Pakistan to India and keeping mouth shut on foreign hand in killing of thousands of Pakistanis.

There is a hadeeth from Abu Darda "Allah SWT says that i am King of all the Kings and hearts of all the kings are in my control, if the people follow My path, I make the heart of their king soft and caring towards them and if the people deviate from My path, i make the heart of their king harsh and cruel towards them". It should not be hard to guess which category do we fall under and how can we have a king which should be kind, merciful and caring towards us.

For the last 64 years leaders are imported from abroad to rule this stupid nation, these leaders come here as foreigners, so they work in Pakistan to earn money for them and for their families living in Europe and America. They earn (By hook or crook) money and send it back to their countries. They are doing the right thing, because they are not Pakistanies. Pakistanies working abroad send money to Pakistan because they belong to Pakistan and their families live in Pakistan. PML(n,m,x,y,z.....) all live in Europe, PPP(a,b,c......) All belong to Europe, MQM belongs to London.... and so on.
Wake up you Stupid Pakistanies. Take care of your Home Land and Kick out all these foreigners (Kalay Angraz کالے انگریز).

Expats going on exit / re-entry in Saudi Arabia

Dear friends.

Do you know of someone who has come across such an eventuality,or its just a rumour !!!

JOHAR (Saudi Arabia) replied on Thursday, June 23, 2011 07:06 PM PST

Pl. refer to below link for details in this regard.I didn't observe any practical examples and all such news are rumors.

http://arabnews.com/saudiarabia/article458446.ece

Best Regards,

Haroon-Dammam replied on Friday, June 24, 2011 04:08 PM PST

Well it’s a big rumor. However, we could not decline the new policies and restrictions.

Recently I have observed the company’s which falls under Red category; their employees are not eligible to avail exit reentry until or unless they turn into Green category, even though if they got exit re-entry through JAWAZAT (Passport Office) by any mean. Aviation department at airport are not allowing them to travel.

Companies are strictly bound to comply with Saudi Rules i.e. legal documentation, Saudilization percentage, Zakat etc … In short companies other than "Excellent and Green categories" are Under-spotlight.

Sincerely,

Haroon

MJM Dammam replied on Friday, June 24, 2011 11:19 PM PST

@Haroon - At the moment, our company falls in red category. I am responsible for human resources affairs of my branch in Dammam. On Wednesday (22/6/11) I got 6 exit / rentries without any hassle or trouble. Once exit/re-entry is made by the passport office, immigration staff at airport has no authority to change it into exit only. This has been made clear for the benefit of expatriate staff in the news papers a couple of days ago. FYI the new system is going to be implemented after 10th Sept. 2011. By then companies have been advised/instructed to put their house in order.

limu replied on Saturday, June 25, 2011 02:35 AM PST

@MJM Dammam
But you can't overlook the fact that concerned ministry has not come up with their take on the issue so far. Also i have learnt about few cases in which exit / re-entry e-paper has been withheld and final exit put at the air port, so i am convinced that it is NOT just a rumour. And what is this new system that you referred to being implemented from 10th Sept'11, could you share details.

MJM Dammam replied on Saturday, June 25, 2011 06:06 AM PST

@limu - I again stress and convinced that there was no exit made at the airport. It was just a rumour and no more. Immigration people at the airport have no authority whatsoever to convert exit/re-entry into exit only. Among other things, my questions, if the exit is made at the airport how end of service benefit will be settled? If you are having a vehicle in your name how will you dispose of your vehicle (Saudi rule is very clear before making final exit one must have to dispose of his vehicle), how telephone bill will be settled etc etc??? One more thing without the consent of employeer, employee cannot be sent on exit visa only. Leave your e-mail address here on this forum, I can forward you details of the new system.

limu replied on Saturday, June 25, 2011 03:26 PM PST

Dear MJM Dammam,
If you have spent good time here, you might be aware that its a country where "laws for expats" remain always silent whenever the need arises. Perhaps you remember there was a notification by the ministry that the expats who go on exit don't require any NOC and can come back the next day on new job. But till todate, their embassy in Islamabad is reluctant in endorsing visas without NOC saying that they have'nt receive any intimation as yet in this regards. Here, you have no place to go, and no one to question, what you have said is absolutely correct but it holds true for a country in which laws for expats adequately protect them.Do keep us posted if you get some further insight about it.
