Advice Needed

AOA , I use this forum to understand property situation in country . But today situation is different i am in a confusion . I am a Petroleum Engineer working offshore in Norway . Now i have very good offer from Qatar . In Qatar I will save more but in Norway after 4.5 years I will be eligible for citizenship (Passport) . In Qatar my family will be living with me whereas in Norway I don't want to raise my family . Its very western , boring and cold . My daughter is a baby child now but she will grow eventually. Please, require your honest opinion.

Final call will be yours based on your personal preferences and circumstances. My sincere advise would be to go to Qatar and hopefully you will be better off professionally, financially and the family front would be manageable.Plan for the medium term.

Dear Saqib,
I advice you to stay put in Norway.
I'm electrical engineer and lives in EU.
I know your concerns, but once you have passport, (InshAllah)you will get another job in Qatar and even with more salary.
Leave your family in Pakistan for the time being, and i guess they can always get a visa to visit you and so can you visit Pakistan.

AOA,

Mr. Saqib I'm a mechanical engineer working in Qatar. Qatar is a nice place to work n live but I would recommend if you have option to get citizenship in 4-5 years its better to avail this opportunity. as yo children are also of small age so their upbringing would not be a problem in next 4-5 years. by getting Norwegian passport inshaALLAH you'll be able to get much better package in Qatar.

adeel replied on Monday, April 15, 2013 01:05 AM PST

mr saqib i myself an engineer,i recommend you to get citizenship of norway then move to qatar with foreign national ,u ll able to earn more and more money and status in society.

ua replied on Monday, April 15, 2013 01:12 AM PST

If I'm in your place I'll get my citizenship. If you leave now, there is no going back on that. On the other hand, the opportunities in Middle East are not going to go away. As a Norwegian citizen, you may even have better chance of landing a great job.

va replied on Monday, April 15, 2013 01:22 AM PST

if you think you can survive for another 4.5 years in Norway do get your nationality.

keep in mind in future EU might be very different regards to benefits(i.e free schooling, health service, etc....) for its citizens.

RAA replied on Monday, April 15, 2013 01:43 AM PST

Come back to Pakistan now. There are lots of opportunities here also. Short term gains are not worth the efforts and sacrifices one would make in Europe or Qatar.

Dear Saqib,
Usually i do not participate on such discussions, as many people raised here, But after hearing you, and listening other ppl, i just wanted to share my own personal experience, here, may of my middle east brother will agree, on this.
bottom line. In Arab, world, whether it is KSA, UAE, QATAR, OR BAHRAIN,
there is common formula USED it throw it, I am sorry, but after living
17 years, in K.s.a, Bahrain, U.A.E, i have been throw it, after been serving as senior Mech_Engg. Where I has once oppt of Work-permit of Danish government, but i was in to much confidence in K.S.A, but again
when they utilized you, and they got a chance to throw you, you will be fc***ed up, and more ever on a Pakistani Passport, aah. I am sorry I love my passport and respect, but what arabs have a value of us, many of my arab based brother will share it with you.
Please don't miss that oppurt, and stay calm, and keep going on.
Sincerely,

How can you live without family for 4-5 years. Man this is going to do a lot of harm to your family life and children than good. Citizenship and savings will not matter in that case. I have myself lived in Norway for 6 months and its very hard to live there alone. Take your family along with you and forget the saving for some time. If you want citizenship of some country than your family should live in that country to get accustomed of that country otherwise whats the use of it when they are not going to live there.

replied on Monday, April 15, 2013 02:26 PM PST

Get your family with you. Stay till you get the passport. keep your self and the family near to religious circles. do not socialize with modern people. Once you get passport, you can any time move to Middle East of Even Pakistan, Vote for Imran Khan and we will all go back to Pakistan inshallah.

@Saqib after spending 35 years in Middle east and getting financially reasonably stable I am still nervous what to do as Arabs are not not letting me to stay and wanted to lay off, perhaps I have to spend all my saying to go and settle in a place like you are already living.

Today I think I have spent all my life at wrong place. My suggestion is one should live in a place where they let you live.

In middle east you will remain Ujmi.

I have been working in petroleum industry for last 13 years and 4/5 years is a long and tough time to live without family. Suggested to get job in Qatar with family status (Family should be given priority).

Dear Saqib, my brother's wife is a Norwegian and I live in Bahrain while my sister lives in qatar for more than 18 years. My brother's wife has been in Pakistan for many years and has no plans to leave. My sister got Canadian immigration last year and they have decided not to take it. I had a chance to go to the US when I was working for an American company but I declined. No country in the world has what Pakistan has, yes there are issues right now and opportunities are scarce, but if you are in the gulf and can save some money, it is best to be close to home. The west is too cold, too dull, too alien for people like us. Good luck.

I am of the opinion that one should spend active life, try to earn maximum HALAL money by trading as it is also SUNNAH, and at the same time full fill all religious obligations by paying zakkah. sadaqa etc and taking care of people around us.One should not leave the world anticipating that one day he has to die and spend dormant life which of to no use for other human beings. May Allah Kareem give us Barakah Ameen

I feel pity for those who are obsessed with holding a foreign passport. The foreign passport will prove to dismantle your family in the future. I would suggest not to miss Qatar opportunity at the expense of your family and Islamic values.

Saqib

I think you need to consider the following:

1. Do you want to live in EU in future with your family?

2. If you don't like culture & weather, will you and your family be happy for 5 years or so?

3. In ME, I doubt your salary will vastly improve even after getting a EU passport. In ME, salary structure is

a. Local Arabs
b. White USA and Europeans
c. Other ME Arabs and so on.....

4. Travelling will be easier with a EU passport. How much travelling do you envisage doing in future?

5. Due to your qualifications you will find employment easily in USA, Europe and ME.

Everyone knows you go to ME to work. You will never receive a middle eastern passport.

With a right offer in ME, you should be saving enough to settle where you want to (i.e. Pakistan, Europe or USA)....

In ME, it is blatantly clear when you are not a first class citizen and in West it is quietly done.

Wait for another 4.5 years, get Norway passport and then go for job/living in Qatar as all Arab countries pay much more to EU people than Asians.

Bahria Town

Hi - I'm an overseas Pakistani. I purchased a plot in E sector Johar Block after paying all installments in BT Lahore office last month.

Now after one month - when i called they informed only 1 installment with down payment is clear.although I've all documents with me but yet want to know the following.

is there any fraud chances in Bahria Town ?

Transformation to other person is only done after paying all the installments - is this correct ?

as I'm out of county what steps should i take ?

Hussain Kaisrani replied on Thursday, November 29, 2012 03:18 PM PST

ear Ali Raza Sahib,
It is may be due the reason that IT department has not updated the status of your plot. If you have all the documents (specially payment receipts) with you, then there is nothing to worry about. You or some one on your behalf can get the record corrected by visiting Bahria Town office. You will be asked to provide the documentary proof of payments.
Please get the final account statement when the issue is resolved. If they have imposed any fine or surcharge due to non payment, get it waived off as it is Bahria Town's official fault. If you will not get it corrected now then you may face problems when selling or getting the possession of your plot.
No one can give any guarantee about Bahria Town or any other organization. Generally this kind of frauds are not found in Bahria Town so don't be upset in this regard.
Yes, Transfer of plot is only done when all previous dues are clear - Meaning all the due installments are paid.
As you are out of country, some one on your behalf can clear every thing so remain satisfied. It is not a big issue at all.

dear ALI RAZA, mr.hussain kaisrani is right.if you have all receipts(original)then no need of worry.

ZNS replied on Thursday, November 29, 2012 09:01 PM PST

No need to worry, take all the receipts to Bahria office and they will update the records and give you most recent statement showing no penalty. It happened to me also.

I never had any issues with BT in past...U will be ok ...just talk to them and get the records updated :)

Ali Raza replied on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 04:24 PM PST

after sending the scanned copies of the payment. they updated the system. but now they put some surcharge of like 35k. need to really send someone to know this science.

other party delayed the instalment and it may be due to that. but it was cleared by other party when was transferred to my name. also, transformation is only done when all dues are clear.

why it is like this, any feedback from you guys ?

Hussain Kaisrani replied on Friday, December 7, 2012 02:26 PM PST

Ali Raza Sahib,
I have already mentioned this in my reply to your post.
It is due to the reason that (AS PER BAHRIA RECORD) the installments were not paid in time. The system automatically keeps on put surcharge on daily basis.
You have sent BT office the receipts copies and your record is updated BUT the guy on system can not remove the surcharge by himself. It needs to adopt a certain process which also includes a written application and approval signatures of concerned authority.
If you do not get it waved off, the surcharge on surcharge will be applied. And if due to some reason Bahria Town changes its policy NOT to waive off the surcharge then you will be in difficulty when selling or getting the possession. And if due to some reason the surcharge is waived off without adopting the proper procedure then it will also remain there and will appear at the time of transfer.
Please get a final statement when you get the surcharge waived off. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT.
