Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Ring Road project is gaining momentum and is on track to be completed within a year, as announced by Liaquat Ali Chatta, Commissioner of Rawalpindi Division. This significant infrastructure endeavor is expected to usher in remarkable development for the region. The construction of the 38.3-kilometer-long Ring Road is being expedited to meet the stipulated timeframe.


According to the provided details, the Rawalpindi Ring Road will feature five crucial interchanges at Banth, Chak Bali Khan, Adiala Road, Chakri Road, and Thalian. Additionally, industrial zones will be established along the Ring Road, fostering economic growth and offering promising economic prospects.


Liaquat Ali Chatta emphasized the project's significance, labeling it as one of the major public welfare initiatives. He noted that the project's progress is commendable and a testament to its commitment to completion.


The Ring Road is poised to provide substantial benefits to the local business community by creating market linkages to economic hubs. This strategic move aims to offer improved and alternative business opportunities for entrepreneurs in the region.


The commissioner also lauded the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) for its pivotal role in facilitating the execution of various development projects in Rawalpindi. The swift pace of these projects is attributed to RDA's efforts in ensuring public convenience.


One of the most significant advantages of the Ring Road will be alleviating traffic congestion in the twin cities, particularly Rawalpindi. It will also enhance residents' accessibility to adjacent areas. Chatta emphasized that the Ring Road will be a transformative development for Rawalpindi.

Streamlined Building Plan Approval Process by Lahore Development Authority (LDA)


Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has implemented substantial improvements in its building plan approval procedures, as reported on October 3.


The LDA has announced a remarkable reduction in the turnaround time for approving building plans, particularly for private housing schemes. Previously, this process took a lengthy 30 days, but it has now been expedited to just 3 working days. This initiative to accelerate the approval process was spearheaded by LDA Director General Muhammad Ali Randhawa, who stressed the importance of aligning the process with the public's needs. The primary aim is to create a smoother experience for all stakeholders.


Additionally, the LDA is actively working on the development of an accessible online system to further streamline the approval process. This online platform will complement the existing physical channels, offering the public multiple options for submitting and tracking their building plans.


LDA Chief Town Planner Azhar Ali has stated, "All essential reports and procedures, from site assessments to final approvals, will now be centralized at the One Window Cell." He also highlighted the elimination of redundant clerical processes and the introduction of revised Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Furthermore, the PITB-generated E-Khidmat software will enhance user-friendliness by providing comprehensive plot reports through GIS and generating challans using the SAP system.

Islamabad: Pakistan and China are on the verge of finalizing an agreement that will enable the inclusion of a third party in the transformative China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects. This significant development was reported by a reliable news source on October 3, ahead of the upcoming Belt and Road Forum (BRF).


According to the disclosed information, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) revealed this pivotal achievement during a recent meeting chaired by the Minister of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Sami Saeed. The meeting's primary agenda was to assess the progress made on CPEC initiatives. MOFA affirmed that discussions concerning third-party involvement in CPEC projects have been actively taking place within the framework of the Joint Working Group on International Cooperation and Coordination (JWG-ICC). This group was established by the CPEC Joint Cooperation Committee (JWG) to oversee such matters.


Consistent with the mutually agreed policy between Pakistan and China, public announcements regarding third-party participation will be made only after thorough consultation and agreement between the two nations. The meeting underscored the substantial progress achieved by the JWG-ICC, formed in 2018 with the goal of fostering an international environment conducive to the advancement and promotion of CPEC.

Quetta: In response to requests from Sector A-6 members, the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Quetta has decided to extend the deadline for the payment of the second instalment of development charges. This announcement was officially communicated through a Facebook post on October 3.


As per the information provided in the post, the authority has pushed back the due date for clearing outstanding dues for the second instalment of development charges to October 16. Payments can be conveniently made during regular office hours, with the office closing at 5:00 PM.
