FBR Requested to Extend Last Date for Filing Income Tax Return


Islamabad: According to a news source on September 25, tax bar groups, chartered accounting firms, tax advisers and tax specialists have asked the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to extend the deadline for filing income tax returns. According to the specifics, the FBR has been persuaded to extend the deadline to October 31 by tax professionals, tax bar associations, tax advisers, and chartered accounting firms. Technical and legal issues that have come up during the present filing procedure are the reasons for the request for this extension.


System errors are among the most common technical issues taxpayers have encountered when preparing income tax returns and wealth statements. The Karachi Tax Bar Association has made a severe weakness of the IRIS system public. Additionally, data from the prior year's wealth declarations suddenly vanished from the current year's statements, causing taxpayers to experience challenges never before experienced. Individuals, Associations of Persons, and businesses with defined fiscal years are obliged to file tax year (TY) 2023 returns on or before September 30, 2023, in accordance with Section 118 of the law. The due date would instead be Monday, October 2, 2023, in compliance with the General Clauses Act, as September 30, 2023, is a Saturday and a holiday.


Despite the FBR's SMS notifications stating there will be no extensions, taxpayers are recommended to complete their income tax returns as soon as possible before the original deadline of September 30, 2023, to avoid default surcharges, penalties, and notices.

CDA Decided to Auction Commercial & Residential Plots Next Month


Islamabad: According to news stories dated September 28, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) is getting ready to start an auction of commercial and residential plots, including a range of sizes and classifications, slated from October 17 to 20 at the Jinnah Convention Centre. The main goals of this auction are to increase the authority's revenue production and to persuade investors to take advantage of this exciting opportunity.


A representative from the CDA emphasized that potential investors are urged to participate in this auction since it offers a fantastic chance to purchase residential and business plots in the federal capital with full legal protection. The auction, which will cover various areas inside the boundaries of the capital city of Islamabad, will end on October 20.


The official claims that real estate specialists consider this opportunity to be a must-have investment opportunity for both domestic and foreign investors. A wide variety of plot types are available, including those in the Blue Area, Marakaz, E-11 Northern Strip, Park Enclave Commercial, Petrol Pumps, Class-III Shopping Centers, Agro Farms, Fruit and Vegetable Shops, IT Centre (Commercial), Apartments, Industrial, Hostels, Residential, and I-11 Markets. Brochures are available to interested persons beginning on October 2nd at the one-window directorate of the CDA and specific branches of HBL, UBL, MCB, Askari Bank, and Bank of Punjab.


The data can also be accessed via the official CDA website at www.cda.gov.pk. The official emphasized the existence of a dedicated facilitation staff at each stage of the process to assist potential investors. Within 30 days of the bid being accepted, the winning bidder must submit an initial payment of 25% of the winning bid. The representative added that the advance tax would be charged pro rata after the initial payment. Construction work can begin following approval of the building plan and complete payment.In addition, the CDA is providing a 10% discount for complete payments made within 30 days of receiving the notice of bid acceptance, plus an extra 5% rebate for payments made in US dollars.
