Punjab Governor Calls Bahawalpur Master Plan for its Development

BAHAWALPUR: The Governor of Punjab, Balighur Rehman, has called for the creation of a comprehensive Bahawalpur Master Plan for the development of Bahawalpur city.

During a meeting, the governor instructed Commissioner Raja Jahangir and Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur, Zahid Parvaiz Warraich to ensure that the plan addresses all essential needs of the local community.

According to an official statement, the governor emphasized the importance of resolving the basic problems faced by the residents of Bahawalpur.

He also directed the administration to establish a modern slaughterhouse and cattle market to cater to the city’s needs.

The governor also urged the expediting of the construction of the Jhangra Eastern dual carriageway, which will connect the city to the Sukkur-Multan Motorway.

The Commissioner reported to the governor the ongoing efforts to restore the sewerage system in some parts of the city that was damaged by recent rains.

He also informed the governor about the development of a synthetic athlete track at the local stadium, which will cost around Rs. 370 million.

The governor also expressed his condolences for the recent terrorist attack at the police lines mosque in Peshawar, and expressed his grief over the loss of life.

CDA News: Illegal Commercial Construction Found Along Park Road Worth Billions
ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has discovered the Illegal Commercial Construction building of commercial malls along Park Road Islamabad, costing billions of rupees. (Reported by news source)

At least 15 unlawful buildings were being constructed along Park Road when CDA discovered them. They were given notices and the construction was attempted to be stopped.

Additionally, the city government has set a strict deadline of 15 days for them to legalize these illegally erected buildings.

Additionally, the civic body’s building control department forewarned of harsh action against all non-regularized buildings in accordance with the notices.

CDA asserted that the building’s owner would be responsible for any damage sustained as a result of the CDA’s proceedings.

The warning also stated that failure to comply will result in the sealing or destruction of any unauthorized buildings.

National Highway Authority approves 26.67% higher budget for Highway Construction

ISLAMABAD: The National Highway Authority (NHA) Executive Board approved the award of works for “Dualization and Improvement of Existing N-50 from Yarik-Sagu-Zhob: Package-I: which is 26.67% above the Engineer’s Estimate of Rs.18.029 billion. (Reported by news source)

The Board also recommended that the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council approved the revised PC-I for “Dualization & Improvement of Existing N-50 from Yarik – Sagu – Zhob including Zhob Bypass (210 Km) at a Cost of Rs. 81.310 billion”. The Board issued a directive to stop the practice of creating umbrella (global) PC-I.

The NHA F.Y. 2022–23 Annual Maintenance Plan is being prepared by the Road Asset Management Division (RAMD). Meetings for stakeholder consultation were scheduled in Lahore and Karachi since they were mandated under the Road Maintenance Account (RMA) Rules.

The National Highway Safety Ordinance 2000’s (Schedule-VI) allowable load restrictions were adopted by the Board unanimously, with a directive that the affected offices undertake an immediate campaign to educate road users.
