Lahore High Court sends notices over housing societies’ destruction of agricultural lands

RAWALPINDI: On Monday, in response to a citizen’s plea over master’s plan violations and the issuance of NOCs to private housing societies without meeting the required requirements, Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench Justice Mirza Waqas Rauf issued notices to the Director General Punjab Housing and Town planning department and Director Sub-Region Rawalpindi. (Reported by news source)

Prior to February 22, 2023, the court ordered additional attorneys general to provide paragraph-by-paragraph remarks and a thorough report from the Punjab Secretary of Local Government and Community Development and the DG PHATPA.

The crops had also been damaged by private housing complexes. He claimed that all government-run agencies had submitted to the land developers and proprietors of private housing societies, who are quickly engulfing agricultural fields.

Despite the fact that the Punjab government adopted the Punjab Land Usage (Classification, Re-Classification and Development) Rules 2009, which required the district governments to provide reports regarding the use of lands for the agricultural, commercial, and industrial sectors.

Computerization Of Records for Cooperative Housing Societies

KARACHI: The records of cooperative housing societies would be computerized, according to Sindh Minister for Industries and Cooperative Department Jam Ikramullah Dharejo, to preserve openness in the transfer of plots and other things in cooperative housing societies. (Reported by news source)

Jam Ikramullah Dharejo, the provincial minister, suggested that other societies should imitate the Meerut Society.

He praised the biometric transfer of society plots. In order to prevent multiple allotments and unlawful allotments, Cooperative Housing Societies Dharejo stated that he would work to guarantee that plot transfers were handled through NADRA.

The Minister was accompanied on the occasion by Muhammad Hussain Baloch, Registrar of Cooperative Housing Societies.

The Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Park at Meerut Housing Cooperative Society was also opened by the Minister.

Dr. Murshid Raza, the secretary of the Meerut Society, apprised the provincial minister on the society’s ongoing development efforts.

The Registrar of Cooperative Housing Societies, Muhammad Hussain Baloch, was requested to visit more societies by Sindh Minister Jam Ikramullah Dharejo. The provincial minister pledged to address society’s issues.

Approval of 10 development projects Worth Around Rs. 87 billion (CDWP)

ISLAMABAD: Under the leadership of the Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) approval of 10 development projects totaling Rs.87.17 billion on Monday. (Reported by news source)

The forum approved the building of Pun Panjgur-Gichak-Awaran Road, District Awaran, at a cost of Rs.29,638 million, the reconstruction of Mangopir, at a cost of Rs.3,190 million, and the reconstruction of Turbat-Mand Road from M-8 to Iranian Border-Radeeq.

Additionally, it approved the completion of the Niheng Bridge at Rodbun, District Kech, which cost Rs.673 million, the 26 MW Shagharthang Hydropower Project, which cost Rs.17,972 million, and the SIRA, which cost Rs.2,043 million.

The Secretary of the Planning Ministry, the Chief Economist, members of the Planning Commission, and representatives from the other ministries and divisions all attended the meeting.

Rawalpindi Master Plan: Completion of traffic survey of 20 Roads
The Rawalpindi Metropolitan Corporation (RMC) has requested the consultant – Rawalpindi Master Plan Mott MacDonald Pakistan Private Limited – to complete the traffic survey of 20 roads and squares in Rawalpindi, according to news published in the leading newspaper on February 5.

The consultant has requested the traffic police’s help in conducting the study before finalizing the traffic engineering plan under the Rawalpindi Master Plan project. It was mentioned that the consultant requires the police’s help to count the number of vehicles plying on the roads and conduct sample interviews of the motorists and commuters.

In the meeting, the roads and squares have been identified after a detailed discussion. The consultant will finalize the areas for the study soon. The spokesperson (whose name was disclosed) mentioned that the entry and exit points of the city will be inspected to gather data on public transport and vehicles. He went on to say that the work on the master plan has been started and in the first phase, data collection for traffic and roads will be completed.

The garrison city has four major problems that lead to increased traffic; the lack of parking space or plaza, encroachments, poor traffic management, and unplanned public transport. He highlighted that traffic management and transportation studies are crucial components of the master plan. He went on to say that the surveys are required to assess the traffic patterns and loads. Moreover, the spokesperson stated that after the master plan, the city will be divided into zones for residential, commercial, green areas, and industry.
