Megaprojects in Rawalpindi are abandoned as the RDA returns funds to the provincial government

RAWALPINDI: The funding allotted for three megaprojects in Rawalpindi the garrison city, the Kutchery Chowk Remodeling Project, the Ring Road, and the Leh Expressway, has been returned to the provincial treasury because the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) was unable to launch the projects. (As stated by a news source.).

A senior official from the RDA claimed that the government had allocated more than Rs1 billion for a number of large-scale projects all over the city.

According to the official, the new government in Punjab would decide how the projects would be completed and how the funding would be allocated after the Punjab Assembly elections.

On the other hand, a senior Punjab government official asserted that the interim administration lacked the authority to suggest or provide funding for new developmental initiatives and was merely in place to oversee daily operations in the province until new elections. The official added that after the by-election schedule was made public, no new construction projects could be started in the district.
