RUDA Takes Action to Address Smog and Transform Lahore Environment
Lahore: Imran Amin, the CEO of the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA), conducted a personal inspection of the industrial zone to assess the upcoming smog season and evaluate the steps being taken to mitigate its effects. This information was reported by a news source on October 13.
During his inspection, Amin received a briefing from Abdul Waheed, the Executive Director of Engineering, regarding the strategies in place to combat smog. These measures included a comprehensive evaluation of industrial activities, leading to the implementation of essential guidelines. Some of the crucial measures involved the prohibition of stubble burning, restrictions on open utility carts and trucks, dust control methods like sprinkling, and bans on the burning of carbon slugs, tires, and emissions from industrial furnaces.
Amin stressed the importance of this initiative and urged the commencement of rehabilitation efforts. He highlighted the realization of the vision for an Urban Forest, aiming for a cleaner environment and a more environmentally friendly city. He reaffirmed RUDA's dedication to setting a precedent and promoting a cleaner and healthier future for the city's residents.
