Milestone Collaborations: Pakistan and China Seal 20 Agreements to Elevate Cooperation
Lahore: Pakistan and China have solidified their commitment to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) by signing 20 pivotal agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) during the recent 3rd Belt and Road Forum, as reported on October 30.
Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiren praised the latest Belt and Road Forum, highlighting its role in rejuvenating the high-quality collaboration between Pakistan and China. Both nations have reasserted their dedication to accelerate the development of the Gwadar Port and the enhancement of the ML-1 railway line.
The forum showcased significant achievements, with the signing of 20 agreements and MoUs encompassing cooperation in a wide array of sectors. These areas of collaboration spanned infrastructure, mining, industry, green and low-carbon development, healthcare, space cooperation, digital development, and agricultural exports to China.
Furthermore, the diplomat emphasized notable outcomes from the forum, which included the introduction of initiatives like the Beijing Initiative for Deepening Cooperation on Connectivity, Belt and Road Green Development, International Digital Economy Cooperation, the Green Investment and Finance Partnership, and High-Level Principles on Corruption-free Belt and Road Building.
The forum also set ambitious targets, with plans to provide 100,000 training opportunities on green development for partner countries by 2030 and an increase in the number of joint laboratories to 100. The BRF CEO Conference concluded with the finalization of commercial agreements valued at USD 97.2 billion. It is expected that these agreements will not only generate employment but also stimulate economic growth within the Belt and Road Initiative countries.
