Anticipated Opening of Akbar Chowk Flyovers This Month
Lahore: The Akbar Chowk flyovers project is on track to open for traffic later this month, with the majority of the work completed, according to a news report on November 7.
As per the details, the critical girder launching phase, involving the secure fixation of girders on both flyovers' pillars, has been successfully accomplished. Furthermore, the asphalt work on one of the overhead bridges is finalized, allowing the team to initiate the asphalt work on the second flyover.
Commencing in May of this year, the Akbar Chowk flyover and remodelling project aims to convert Maulana Shaukat Ali Road into a signal-free corridor. The initiative seeks to improve traffic flow at the intersection, save time and energy, and provide a seamless commute for travelers between Kot Lakhpat and Canal Road.
The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, recently visited the project site to assess the progress. He stressed the urgency of completing the construction work and instructed the Parks & Horticulture Authority (PHA) to commence beautification and planting activities along the roads.
