FBR Takes Strict Measures Against Non-Filers, Issues Warning of Utility Services Disconnection

Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued a stern warning to individuals who have not filed their income tax returns, emphasizing that the failure to do so may result in the disconnection of essential utility services. The warning, published in mainstream daily newspapers on December 4, highlights the FBR's commitment to ensuring compliance with tax obligations.

According to the information provided, the FBR has initiated the process of sending letters to individuals who have not fulfilled their income tax filing requirements, including those who are legally obligated to do so. Noncompliance with income tax regulations, as outlined in the recently enacted Section 114B of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001, may lead to the disconnection of crucial utility services such as gas, electricity, and SIM card services. This innovative policy establishes a direct link between tax compliance and the continued provision of essential services.

To facilitate the submission of income tax forms, the FBR has introduced a QR code for scanning and filing, streamlining the process for taxpayers. Individuals are encouraged to take advantage of this creative approach to fulfill their tax obligations efficiently. Those in need of assistance or clarification regarding income tax filing can reach out to the FBR Helpline at .
