Barack Hussein Obama II has won the 44th presidential election of the United States of America. He is now a president elect and will take office of presidency in January 2009.

His father's name is Barack Hussein Obama Sr., a Muslim from Kenya and his mother's name is Ann Dunham, a white American from Wichita, Kansas. He is 47 years old, born in August 4, 1961. His parents met in 1960 in Hawaii while attending University of Hawaii at Manoa. He was only two years old when his parents were separated and later divorced. His father died in 1982 at the age of 46.

His mother later married an Indonesian Muslim, Lolo Soetoro in 1966 and they moved to Jakarta, Indonesia where in 1970 the couple had a daughter, Maya Kassandra Soetoro. They were divorced in 1980. Lolo Soetoro died in 1987 at the age of 51.

Obama had his early upbringing and education in Indonesia and later in Hawaii. His mother died in 1995 at the age of 52. Obama is a Christian, he was baptized at Trinity United Church of Christ in 1988. He will be the first US president of African descent (black).

Obama graduated from Columbia University, New York in 1983 and later Harvard Law School, Massachusetts in 1991.

Obama met Michelle Robinson in June 1989 in Chicago and they got married in 1992. They have two daughters, Malia Ann, born in 1998 and Natasha (Sasha), born in 2001.

Barack Obama was against the war in Iraq from an early stage, however he is expected to take a tough stand if Federally Administered Tribal Areas in Pakistan continue to provide sanctuaries to militants. In order to stop the spread of global terrorism he has favored taking action in FATA without the support of Pakistani government.
