With the unveiling of currency smuggling scandal and the news that the Govt. is contacting other countries at official level to catch all the culprits involved; it is also learned that the bankers & businessmen involved in this scam will also be facing similar action; hoping that the Govt. will not spare these as it happened in Stock Exchange crisis. With the decrease in international prices of gold, crude oil, furnace oil, palm oil, iron & cement it will be a great help to Pakistan’s deteriorating economy. Load-shedding & Wheat shortage is now getting under control.
I suggest with this the Govt. should also make banking reforms where banks cannot waste the nation’s resources only in consumer loans. The poor working class which converted who converted their savings in US$ will face bitterness of prices going down to Rs. 65-70 very soon. For those predicting it to be Rs. 100 by Dec will remain day-dream.
The Govt. will soon have a golden opportunity to put the economy on strong foundation, if it is willing to do so. Education, health, agriculture, Water, Power & Infra-Structure development should be focused. But look at the size of the cabinet & the greed of its coalition partners, will the history of looters be repeated once again? God forbid.
With this in hand, investment in property will again become the focal point. Development in good societies will be evident. Beware of the gamblers for they will return to this market after eating up from stock exchange & currency market. Rehman Asad ( USA) replied on Sunday, November 9, 2008 05:50 AM
I fully agree with Mr.Pardesi and have been stating all along that the dollar would soon fall! I feel sorry to add that very respectable persons like MR. CMY had also stated that the dollar would rise to rupees 100/- |
