Guys,
Every expat must have seen recession in the country they are working i.e. US, Canada, Australia, Middle East etc. I agree that Pakistan is going through a very hard time, but so are developed countries as well. We need to be little optimistic in our investment in Pakistan. I still remember my professors in LUMS always insisted on diversified portfolio. This is what all expat needs. Everyone buys a home where they work and that is the main investment all expats do outside Pakistan. I see nothing wrong with doing some investment in our country as well regardless of the fact that our economy is not one of the best right now. I am actually quite surprised that pak rupee only depreciated say aroung 25% in last one year. The same or more depreciation is on cards with all European currencies against US dollar and people are scared to death about the news of financial crisis and job losses abroad. Their politicians are piece of crap as well. Just trying to say that Pakistan is no exception so why such a negative sentiment about a country who we love the most. Our investment will strengthen the rupee and economy and I urge everyone to be part of it. Irf replied on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 02:47 AM

The problem is finding safe investments, by this i mean safe from Qabza etc, the only seem to be in DHA, the govt must work to make this possible then we will see more inflow of foreign private investment. |

I fully agree with you diversity and product mix is the key to success and safety. As the cliche goes do not put your eggs in one basket. Last year I motivated more than 50 people to invest in Pakistan and spread in property, small business, bonds, saving certificates, and stocks. Al hamdolillah without exception all 50 Pakistanis who invested in Pakistan have earned upto 50% more than my Pakistani brethren who invested in UAE,USA, EURO or elsewhere. It gives us satisfaction on one hand and sense of patritism on other.I understand there is governance issue still much better than UAE where one of my friends roadside accident fight with local went to UAE court and being Pakistani expat verdict came against Pakisyani and he was given only 48 hrs to leave UAE forever and he sold his flat for 50% of its valuse...Any way all international Pakistani related indicators suggest for +tive outlook...Plz Plz do invest yourself and convince your friends to invest in our own country. I havr made even in these lean times 30-35% annual return on property deealings in Pakistan ...key again is small deals town house 30-35 lacs easy to sell and roll. GoD bless Pakistan Long Live Pakistan |

Dear Lady Hawk Sahiba AoA Our elected/appointed leaders are labels to a deeper malaise in our society. Dear Irfan Sahab, may you have peaceful years at your home in Daska. Dear Tareq and Sheraz sahab, a better way to diversify is to look at exchange traded funds, in order to avoid qabza-group risk. regards |
