India is being provoked by anti Pakistani elements to act like a super power. In this case, USA has set a precedent by violating Pakistani air and ground space on the western border. India is eager to repeat the same thing or at the minimum wants to test the Pakistani threshold before doing that. Indian leadership is under pressure to take some kind of action but at the same time knows the dire consequences of violating Pakistani eastern boarder. US violations may have tacit approval of Pakistani leadership but Pakistani armed forces will never allow the same approach for India, come what may. Since, USA and Pakistan are declared partners for war against terror, I think it is about time that Pakistan government should declare that it has employed USA drones against militant hideouts in the tribal belt, if it does not want to take any action against such drone attacks. Only condemning repeatedly and not taking any action shows weakness of the government and does not look good on Pakistan armed forces either. This inaction may create a rift between government and the army, emboldens the militants and now has provoked India to test Pakistani will to fight. It is in the interest of both India and Pakistan to work against those elements that carried out Mumbai attacks. Truth of the matter is that both Indian and Pakistani intelligence agencies are involved in this kind of incidents. The difference is that these incidents do not make world headlines when happen in Pakistan and on top, our elites like to have their picture taken with Indian perpetrators and sometimes even go to India to see them off. If Indian and Pakistani politicians are really concerned about the welfare of their people, they should stop war rhetoric, stop carrying out covert operation in each others countries and solve the core issue of Kashmir according to the wishes of Kashmiri people. Soldiers get training to fight, it is the job of politicians to work for peace. The choice is simple, nuclear holocaust or peace. |
