LAHORE: The Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on Tuesday set a three-year deadline for completing the construction of vacant plots in Phase VI, and also set a penalty for those who fail to meet the deadline. The deadline applies to sectors C, D, CCA and commercial areas of Phase VI. “Sectors C and D have been open for construction since September 1, 2008. Owners of land in these sectors are required to construct houses within three years, after which a penalty will be charged,” the notification issued by DHA administration stated. The issued deadline is September 2011. DHA Spokesman Tajamul Hussain Anjum said the decision of setting a deadline was part of a development scheme for Phase VI. He said the DHA was a well-planned residential society that took decisions based on the welfare of its residents. Completing the construction was important as lush green lawns and properly built houses looked better than vacant plots, he said. The penalty would be announced as the deadline drew close, and there was no chance of extending the set deadline, he concluded. afnan khan
