In recent few months, British airways, Lufthansa + Swissair have closed there operations from Pakistan. I assume it is because of security concerns! And hope it is not because some politicians demanded %! I know current situation helps PIA to sweep all the business and 100% occupancy has already resulted in raised fares, despite falling fuel prices. Hopefully, PIA is making profits to historic levels and this is a positive side. In normal circumstances I expect govt. to take immediate notice of such a depressing situation but it seems govt. is happy with the increased occupancy of PIA and has no will to take-up the issue on diplomatic level. Why? What about the rights of those passengers who do not wish to travel by PIA or who live in central Europe i.e. Germany, Switzerland and Austria, where PIA does not operate? I hope we all know PIA had always bought second hand carriers once they are retired from service by foreign airlines and there are high suspicions of them being airworthy. We don’t know what’s cooking in PIA and why they are not replacing their decades old carriers. All I see is that on my last visit I had the impression that I have landed into office of a political party. |
