Are we out of the worst ?,

Defence Secretary Robert Gates signalled to senators on Tuesday (January 27) that missile strikes along Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan would continue as long as al-Qaeda was believed to have a presence there. “I think that the strikes that are being undertaken are — well, let me just say both President Bush and President Obama have made clear that we will go after al-Qaeda wherever al-Qaeda is and we will continue to pursue them,” said Gates. He also said that this decision has been transmitted to the Pakistan government.

This after Islamabad complained publicly about the attacks from unmanned US drones in tribal areas, saying they are a violation of sovereignty and increase resentment towards both Pakistan’s government and the United States.

US drones fired missiles into North and South Waziristan last week, killing 17 people in the first such strike since Barack Obama became US president.

This latest warning from the US comes after Vice-President Joe Biden earlier said that the US wont hesitate to strike on Pakistan soil if it had intelligence about terror groups.

No, we are not out of the worse. I think, the worse will come in the next coming months of 2009 with more US forces near Pak- Afghan borderand drone attacks on Pak tribal area alogwith India's pressure fro Bobmay attacks

Anyway, nothing major initiative or steps are expected from this crooked Zardari Govt.

I am thinking what is other solution to get rid off all non Pakistani nationals in northeren areas along Pakistan Borders, while they are there Pakistan go deep and deep in worst, so join me in my thinking and get with other solution....

Zardari takes his orders from new Dehli. His actions are not linked with Pakistan's interest. He never complained to Bush administration when their troops came in and clearly killed women and children.
It was than army chief who took the lead and rejected the idea. Later, all what present govt. could muster was a statement that army chief is representing us.
In past Zardari has also lied to the nation that Pakistan doesn’t have resources to down a drone. Immediately Air chief responded and made corrections to Zardari's lie.
Infact, Zardari conferred awards to US administration.
Now we have Obama govt. and Indians are angry because they were covertly negotiating technology transfer of strategic weapons (smaller nuclear bombs), manufacturing of advance radars and fighter jet engine with Bush administration.
It also means that Zardari has lost the architects of his presidency; I don’t think Zardari and Obama can roll together.
Pakistan is clearly in leadership crunch, we should seek for change.

@Iam thinking: only solution is that Zardari demand from India and US the pullout of Indian troops from Afghanistan, closure of Indian consulates, advance equipment to monitor the borders and perhaps US would like to consider donating us a big fence to putup on Pak-Afghan border.
I'm more worried about growing freedom of nationalists from Baluchistan and Sindh.

If Zardari downs a drown, which he can AND should, his secret Swiss bank accounts will be immediately closed. When faced with the question of his own personal gain versus the country and people of Pakistan, Zardari chooses personal gain.

Did I just say anything we all didn't already know ?

We are in deep shit and it’s a now or never stage for Pakistan. Each passing day is multiplying the threats to our security. We need to come up with a firm policy and tell America that enough is enough. If some action has to be taken in our areas, its our forces that will carry out the job, not you. Arsu said it very right in his previous mail, that failing to realize the gravity of situation now, simply means that we are overlooking the tip of iceberg. I feel that Musharaf’s last words are echoing much louder today.

I was wondering if anyone saw Musharraf with Wolf on CNN. He is the man, admitted the mistakes and defended Pakistan strongly. This is called leadership. I am no fan of army, altho I come from Army family but after Zulfiqar Bhutto I saw Musharraf as a leader.

One of our stinking problem in our media. They continuously and defiantly sound as if they are sponsored by anti-Pakistan forces. Nawaz Sharif could also be exploiting them (by paying hefty amounts) to keep barking against Musharraf. I honestly feel that we have lost a great leader and see no light at the end of this tunnel. May Allah save us from both Zardari and Nawaz.

Musharraf is my leader replied on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 08:42 PM

History proves that Musharraf is the best thing ever happened to Pakistan.
I'm quoting some text from web:
''Karachi Stock Exchange is the biggest and most liquid exchange in Pakistan and was been declared as the “Best Performing Stock Market of the World for the year 2002”. As on May 30, 2008, 654 companies were listed with a market capitalization of Rs. 3,746.203 billion (US$ 56.334 billion) having listed capital of Rs. 705.873 billion (US$ 10.615 billion). The KSE 100TM Index closed at 12130.51 on May 30, 2008.
KSE has been into the 4th year of being one of the best performing markets of the world as declared by the international magazine “Business Week”. Similarly the US newspaper, USA Today, termed Karachi Stock Exchange as one of the best performing bourses in the world.

2000 to 2006 was golden period in the 60 years history of Pakistan.
Musharraf was the only leader of Pakistan who launched all mega projects of Pakistan incl. minerals exploration projects which results the discovery of coal reserves, gold mines, Gawadar port and Musharraf even launched first ever sattelite of Pakistan:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PAKSAT
Pakistan had allocation of five orbits in space but Nawaz Sharif and Baynazir declined the opportunity and lost the allocated orbits because they don't care about Pakistan and their formulae to rule is to keep public away from information and education.
The list of Musharraf's acheivements is never ending.

Musharraf rocks replied on Thursday, January 29, 2009 09:13 AM

Dear Bakir,
All Pakistan got rich during Musharraf's era. please, check the percapita income of people in USD from . GDP growth etc.
We have seen boom in every bussiness segment and this can only be possible if basic infrastructer was in place and state institutions were performing.
Look around; all new universities, internet even in small cities, foreign investors in every bussiness sector etc. were made or initiated in Musharraf's era.

IMO,we should change our mentality of personal gains and start looking at larger picture.
Why don't we ask question 'Mulk nay kia tarakke ki'?
To be honest, we were very close to become a developed nation our currency was strengthening and purchasing power was growing and this perfect ingridient for bussiness boom and foreign investment.

Bakir & Nased,

He is perfectly right, i don't know why you people are hiding your face from the truth? other then massive killing of the muslims in lal masjid, waziristan, swat... musharaf worked well for booming pakistan's economy to a stage when people were thinking about safe investments in pakistan.. all of my relatives income grown to more then 200%, just tell me was there any one in 90s who use to think about earning more then 50,000 rupees? but what happen in that era.. many people were earning more then 2 or 3 lac per month.. most of the building built, or start building in Mushy's era.. even pakistan most highest building (which is stopped for now) was also started because of him.. only fool will deny these steps from musharaf..

Waqar Latif replied on Thursday, January 29, 2009 10:28 AM

@I am thinking

the ISI, pak army & Pak government has a solution.. but they don't want to implement that solution.. since this will loss the aid coming from other countries.. & this could hurt our hypocrite President..

Lastly what we started in 2001 (i.e. joining hands with us on war on terror) is now on production.. why we are crying now? when we have sold our muslims brother's lives, then what is the reason they will respect the muslim life?

Mr. Musharraf rocks, I wounder why did you just picked and NOT when Musharraf was also in power? Is it beacuse Musharraf's first two years in power per capita income declined 20%?

Don't pick and choose time. The fact is thank to 9/11 incident which led to massive inflow of foreign exchange in Pakistan. Musharraf was at the right place at the right time to take credit for it.
I also wounder you did not mention 2007 and half of 2008 when Musharif was also in power but economy tanked in these two years. The truth is 10s of billions of dollars that Pakistan received foreign aid during Musharif's era are un accounted for.

In a long run, a bad decocracy is better than a good dictator ship.
