For canadian Immigration - is it compulsory to get police character certificate from UK 2003 / Pakistan as i did my degree from UK and schooling upto 2000 from pakistan, but i am living in Abu Dhabi from past 5 years on residence visa, I can arrange UAE police character certificate easily.
Please advice on getting UK/Pakistan police certificate, is there any fast procedure or guidelines, any idea how long will it take?
Secondly I got my certificates copies(secondary/higher secondary) & PP copies attested from Pakistan Embassy, but canadian immigration guidelines says that all copies must be notarized, will they accept my copies attested from Pakistani Embassy or i need to get this done from Pakistan, please advice on that too.
I will appreciate kind response from fellow members who have some idea about canadian immigration.

I hope while residing in UAE, you might have applied for Canadian immigration through London Office. Can you please let me know that how long will it take to finalize the decision after submitting all the documents.
Can you please provide your email for further correspondence, as I have recently submitted my docs. for the said purpose.

Dear Waji Sahib
plz you can visit SSP office located near District Courts lahore. Meet Superintendent Clerk, get forms, fill it and deposit it to them. Procedurally they will mark your application to local police station, who will visit your location and after verifying will send you the form. For VIP treatment give them something 2000 and get it over there. |

In UK you can apply for extended CRB (criminal record beaureau) check. This is normal practice before you get most jobs these days. |

Being in oversea's Police Certificate from UK can be arranged easily by filling up the application form and sending it to UK along with Demand Draft. Download this application for more information, very useful for person living out of UK who have stayed in UK.

Waji Sahib,
You should simply scan all of your documents and send it to pak and ask somebody to get it attested from Notary Public with green ink pad (Attestation for Foreign Embassy) and send it to you by post. It will take around 10 -15 days in total.
Secondly, for Police certificate, you have to get one attested form from Pak embassy for obtaining the police certificate in pak. otherwise, you can send an authority letter to one of your relative alongwith the copy of your passport and he can submit the forms in SSP Office on your behalf alongwith some 'Nazrana' and you will get it within 4 - 5 days.
I am living in Norway and have been through all this hectic process recently.

Dear Waji sohib,
For canadian immigration you do not need police/character certificate from uk(usa,australia Etc)but you need police character certificate from pakistan and uae if you moved from pakistan before 18 birthday then you only need uae police character certificate, to get police certificate overcease contact you pakistan consulate in uae

Dear Akram, Thanks for your valuable reply.
I have sent authority letter, PP, NIC, Domicile copies to my father, I hope he will be able to get it on my behalf based on authority letter.
Do i need to get this certificate for my wife too? Please confirm...
I am applying for UK police character certificate tomorrow, they will cost about 70 pounds for urgent process, similarly from UAE I will get it in a week time.
Regarding notary public is that compulsory even though PK embassy has attested all the copies? please confirm me that too.

Waji sahib,
You are more than welcome. Also, you have to provide a photograph as well. Further,You and your family members who are 18 years of age and older and are not permanent residents or Canadian citizens have to provide:
a valid police certificate,
These documents are to be provided for each country other than Canada, in which you have lived for six consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18.
Please follow the following instructions guide to prepare the documents only

Its better if you will get it attested from Notary Public (you can scan the docs. and send by email and they will print out in pakistan and get it attested) as described in this guide in order to avoid any delay. Otherwise the decision is yours.
