We need good leadership in Karachi but there is no good alternative. We all must condemn anyone who talks against Pakistan.

One thing I have not been able to understand that after more than 60 years of independence and 2nd and 3rd generation since migration from India, why supporters of MQM still consider themselves Mohajir?

This Mohajir phenomena is only in Karachi, but there were millions of other Muslims that also migrated to other parts of Pakistan and over the years they have become part of local culture and language and don't consider themselves Mohajir.

My grand parents also migrated from Utter Perdesh (India) to Lahore in 1948. They spoke Urdu only. We are the 3rd generation here in Lahore. We are now part of Punjab, Pakistan. We consider ourselves as much Punjabi or Pakistan as other Punjabis that have been living here for hundreds of years. We also have relative who migrated to Sukkar (Sindh), now they consider themselves as much Sindhi as native Sindhi themselves.

What Altaf group has achieved in last 30 years beside bloodshed and so called no-go-areas in Karachi, dividing people and hatred?

a million dollar question, my grandparents moved from Amritsar (India) to Lahore along with many other Punjabi families, technically speaking they were muhajirs as well but they never called themselves muhajir, so why in Karachi?

dont think many muhajirs like MQM, i think they are forced to support it,

its a pity that our govt never tried to bring all four provinces together, there should have been plans:

* to exchange students between provinces
* to promote each others' languages
* to promote traditional businesses
* to built road infrastructure between provinces
* to spread industries/businesses all accross Pakistan

but no-one thought about all this and despite sharing the same religion, we are far apart from each others

i know many urdu/pashto speaking families, some of them are related to each other, i dont see any difference, they are all loving people

god bless pakistan

Absolutely dr tariq, and believe me this trend is horrible when we talk of Pakistan as a federation.It reminds me that of Sheikh Mujeeb.I am convinced that this lawyer's movement was fully dominated by Punjab.

Karachiite replied on Friday, March 20, 2009 02:34 PM

@limo

Why is it important for you who was leading this successful movement. You, just like MQM dont seem interested in realising that the purpose of this campaign was to ensure justice.

I feel you are prejudiced in your opinion.

limo replied on Friday, March 20, 2009 04:53 PM

Karachiite, please come out of the illusions and try to understand one simple point, no lengthy debate - our elite can not afford to have a free judiciary in literal sense for a single day.
The assets that Mr.Nawaz Sharif has declared to election commission of Pakistan don't show a single car in his name.Let this free judiciary of yours start a new beginning from this individual, if it does so, i swear i will call it a free judiciary in real sense.
