Abid replied on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 08:30 PM

I think your full name is Ashraf Maseh!

ashraf replied on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 08:41 PM

NO. my full name is maulvi Ashraf singh

Usman replied on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 09:04 PM

Ashraf bhai, If you are just talkingg about "APPEARANCE", then there may not be much difference.
Jewish Rabbi, Priest, bishop, pontifex and even hindu sadhu all have somewhat same apperance. So what is the point?

MaulviAshraf Singh jimRam replied on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 09:41 PM

Excellent point, this shows that appearance by having a beard(like Mullha) doesnot maKe you a Good Muslim, it is the conduct which is more important. I hope we Pakistanis understand this.

A. Khan replied on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 11:28 PM

Dear Ashraf, No one is claming here that beard is necessary to be a good muslim. In fact beard is not mandatory in Islam. Having a beard is just a Sunnah.
There is only one caveat about beard that once you grow your beard it is better not to shave, but shaving beard still won't make you less of good Muslim either.
I don't believe there is any conflict of believe among Islamic scholars that beard is mandatory. I guess you are confused about what you want to say.

Friend replied on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 11:54 PM

Well since this is a realestate website and the only thing I can say is that it may help you in some areas with beard to buy a house, and may not help you in some areas (MQM control) to buy a house.

I hope this help.

Waqar Latif replied on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 02:25 AM

@A.Khan

no offense meant i just want to correct you, according to all Imam, shaving is haram (if need reference i will provide you).

Now coming to point difference between mullah & sikh, as per appearance concern there is no difference, but A sikh can't lead your prayer a mullah (respectively mufti, since other mullah don't where pug like sikhs, only mufti who is learned is allowed) only get, sikh normally don't get sawab of all the people who are praying behind him, but Mullah does. A sikh don't know much about Islam, while a Mullah has spend "TIME" while studying Islam.

The same as is in a horse and a donkey.

PROGRESS replied on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 04:16 AM

Dear Ashraf,

Instead of thinking about others.....Please look inside you...If you have a beard what you will call yourself....Muslim or Kafir..

Do you know BEARD is the only thing from this world you can take physically with you and that is a reflection of our dearest Prophet (PBUH).

I advise you further please do not putt Mohammad and Singh togather ever. May Allah show you the right path...(Inshallah)

Muslims have no moustache replied on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 07:02 AM

The correct understanding about growing a beard in Islam is what is apparent to any sound mind from the statements of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him):
Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Trim the moustache and let the beard grow; be different from the mushrikeen." (agreed upon).
Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Cut the moustache and leave the beard alone; be different from the mushrikeen." Al-Bukhaari
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Trim the moustache and let the beard grow; be different from the Magians (Zoroastrians)." Muslim
These ahaadeeth indicate that it is obligatory to leave the beard alone and let it grow, and that it is obligatory to trim the moustache. This is what is obligatory as taught and enjoined by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
And an obligation can not be dropped unless there is a necessity and the necessity is the risk of losing one's life or facing severe hardship.
And whoever refuses to fulfill an obligation, disobeys Allah and His Messenger. Allah says:
And whosoever obeys Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) will be admitted to Gardens under which rivers flow (in Paradise), to abide therein, and that will be the great success... And whosoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and transgresses His limits, He will cast him into the Fire, to abide therein; and he shall have a disgraceful torment. .An-Nisaa 13-14
A Muslim is required to obey Allah and His Messenger to the best of his ability and Allah the Most Knowledgeable knows what is best and most correct.

AUK replied on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 07:10 AM

Ashraf, you have no right to disrespect Islamic values being a Muslim.

KS replied on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 07:43 AM

Dear Mr. Waqar Latif, I really respect your opinion but here I would like to correct one fact and that is in Islam there is no concept of holy men like priests in other religions.
Mullah is an Indo-Pak culture and is one of many deviations of Islam which exists in India and Pakistan.
In Islam every Muslim can lead the prayer and Allah S.T. does not differentiate the prayers on the basis, if those were lead by a bearded Muslim or un-bearded Muslim. If you don't know how to lead prey as Imam than you can offer this opportunity to others but it is only because you are handicap, not because you don’t have beared.
We may have Islamic scholars with deep knowledge of Islam but they should be considered as consultants and of course we all should treat each other with respect, irrespective of beard.

limo replied on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 10:46 AM

Friends, please be clear that growing of beard in Islam is MANDATORY and it is unanimous opinion of Ulama of Islam including four Imams. Thus shaving of beard simply means
1. Disobedience to Allah (SWT)
2. Disobedience to Prophet (pbuh)
3. Deviation from the way of Believers
4. imitation of disbelievers.
5. Ridiculing the Din
A humble request to dear ones who can't keep beard, please don't curse those who keep it.As they are a step ahead of us in imitating Prophet(pbuh).Just ask someone who has kept it, that how big a shield it is and how it protects you against sins.May Allah SWT give me "taufeeq" to keep it soon.
KS - The one with beard has to be given preference in leading a prayer.
Ashraf - If a jew comes across you with a better conduct, would you rate him higher than a bearded muslim.Remember there is no reward for non believers near Allah SWT no matter how good they appear to you in conduct.

eh replied on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 11:30 AM

I request all of the Muslim brothers on here (Practicing or non-practicing), we have millions of topics to discuss but please don't make mockery of sunnah. If you can't practice it or are practicing, you will be rewarded for it. I don't understand why we commit a sin without any reason which is just ignorance.

Beard is a sunnah and it put on us the responsibility/burden of being a good muslim. If someone does anything wrong while bearing it he got more sins than a person who doesn't keep it. I am a clean shaved I intend to have a beard but I do not because I fear that the responsibilities which come with it are hard to bear by me or perhaps i am not qualified for having a beard.

KS replied on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 12:20 PM

@ eh + limo:
I watch your opinion regularly and I know where you come from but I limit my opinion only to your reply.
Every Muslim kid knows that bearded is Sunnah but how it is classified as Sunnah and in which book it is defined as Sunnah, you 2 don't know.

You 2 cannot also define what is Sunnah?

Missing beard does not classify as disobedience to Islam or prophet nor does it classify as ridiculing din or imitating disbeliever.
We have various factions of Islam and all of us have different interpretations or references of sunnah.

Imposing individual beliefs on others means asking for big trouble!
There is a Hadith that those create mischief or instability in any Islamic regime will go to Hell.

Don’t forget that Pakistan is not made by Mullahs or bearded persons and it was made so that suppressed Muslims and other minorities of Hindustan can live with freedom of choice.

From day one Indians are working against interests of Pakistan, when they failed on one front now they have picked up on another front with the help of Afghan children they kept in gallows from the time of 2001 US invasion of Afghanistan.
Now after 9 years Indians have an army of young suicide bombers who have nothing to do with Pakistan’s history with Afghanistan or India.

Dear Pakistanis don’t fall prey to media and abstain from controversial issues, I call them non issues. Unfortunately, suddenly non issues have become popular in media while real issues have been put on back burner.

I invite all the participants to list the real issues!!!!
It will identify the problems of Pakistan and together we can monitor media and govt. if they are representing Pakistani interest or…else.

eh replied on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 01:13 PM

KS. You are right i have no reason to define what is Sunnah and I did not tried this. Please read my post and then comment.

I am not sure about the definition of Sunnah but only 1 thing I know that whatever Hazrat Mohammad SWS (PBUH) has done from his act is a sunnah. Since he kept beard for me it is a sunnah may be not for you.

So, ww should refrain to talk negative about something we are not sure or not aware about it? For me every muslim earn more respect in the eyes of believers if he is beard and if he commits something bad he is hated more than a non-bearded.

@ eh: No one in this world will ever be able to every thing which Prophet did. How would you classify a Muslim who is not abble to imitate all the acts of Prophet(pbuh)100%? or let me put it this way... how do u classify a person who miss one or more sunnahs?

Usman replied on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 08:02 PM

Sunnah is somthing that Hazrat Mohammad SWS (PBUH) had done in their daily life, as eh rightfully said so. Growing beard is also Sunnah but NOT mandatory. Following Sunnah is NOT mandatory, but if you do follow you get extra "SWAB".

If Sunnah were mandatory then we should NOT use car, motor cycle, bus etc for transportation, as Hazrat Mohammad SWS (PBUH) always used camel and horse for transportation. Should we all stop using all this? Of course no.
Lets not be too rigid on Islam and be more progressive and forward looking nation.

Mr. Ashraf has lived ans spent so many years of his life unaware of the ikh and that of Molana and the difference between the beard of a Molana and and that of a Sikh. It won't make any difference to his style of life if he is provided with the knowledge. He is type of person who is not seeking for knowledge by putting this question but rather he has been sarcastic.

FAO MODERATOR & CMY
Its hard to understand that why this website is playing the role of HYDE PARK of Britain to the population of Pakistan. This is the only website in Pakistan which has given the liberty to each and every individual who visits this site to say and right any sort of derogatory remarks about Islam or any faith. Choudhary Mujahid Yasin Sahib, it is time that you should think seriously that the liberty given to people who visit this website to express their views does not any way serve their inbred animal instincts to make such remarks about the faiths of other people who visit this website. I understand you are soft, polite gentleman but please your website is becoming infested with pests. It is better to be on the guard.

Assalam-u-Alaikum wr wb:

First of all I would ask Allah Subhan wa Tallah to guide all of us to straight path, a path that is described in QURAN and followed by Prophet ( Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him ).

Brothers, We spend our resources, energy and all the possible efforts to understand knowledge about this world. We try to understand our worldly things to the best of our abilities. But when it comes to understanding Islam, we are so lazy that we think if we know partial teachings of Islam, we can put 2 and 2 together to make it four.

Very little knowledge is very dangerous. Either it is wordly knowledge or knowledge of Islam.

Allah says in Quran, " Say Salaam to Ignorant People ".

Remember a man who just reads book of medicine, start beleiving that he has all the diseases mentioned in this book.

Brother Usman, I really disappointed to hear that a Muslim would believe that following Sunnah is not mandatory.

Some sunnahs yes if we do it, we will not be held responsible but if we do, we would get SWAB. But there are some Sunnahs, we cannot ignore.

I am also really disappointed to hear that you said if we only follow Sunnah, we would be riding camels, horses etc.

Tell me where in Sunnah it says only ride camels, horses etc.

These are means of transportation, and they provide basic rulings that we could use any mode of transportation.

These are ASBAB (means). We are never asked to not use means. Prophet Mohammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah) used ASBAB. When he went to war, he used TALWAR, HORSE, CAMEL, Even ARMOR to protect himself.

They don't contradict with modern ways of doing things like riding a car, flying on an plane using Guns to protect country etc.

Like I said little knowledge is very dangerous.

Remember, do not put your views as they are part of ISLAM, rather change your views based on Islamic teachings.

Remember, we are commanded to follow Allah and Prophet Mohammad in QURAN. So if we only read Quran simple translation, we would get to understand how important is Sunnah of Prophet.

With previous nations, like JEWS and CHRISTIANS, why they have gone astray and modified their religions and even books of Allah they have been bestowed upon.
Because Sunnah of Prophets in their era could not be preserved.

So this is beauty of Islam that not only Allah has protected QURAN but also Sunnah of Prophet.

If Sunnah is not mandatory to follow, tell me where would you find how to perform HAJJ, how to pay zakat on different things, how to sustain your family,
how to perform WUDU, how to marry islamically and so many things ...

Remember brothers, if we cannot follow something good, then we should not make mockery of good things that other people are trying to do.

Ofcouse Islam is not with BEARD rather BEARD is part of ISLAM.

Waqar Latif replied on Thursday, April 16, 2009 07:54 AM

@KS

I typed & posted a reply for you this morning but don't know what happen, ok let me retype...

You said there is no concept of the holy men in Islam, i will say this, "Do you know the difference between Momin & Muslim? if not then read Quran.."

Now coming to Mullah, "where did i said Islam actually given this title to someone?" Yes, this has been forwarded by the culture & people who has given this title, but that will not change the fact "Mullah is someone who lead our prayer (in daily routine), & he is the person who actually spend his whole life while learning and/or teach islam to other people." Can you disagree with this statement?

Now comming to say there is no repective rule for becoming Imam of the prayer is completely wrong, this happens when a guy who don't read hadith & yet say something on the issue, there is a hadith on this purpose who can lead the prayer(If you need i will search for you, so it satisfies you). Now coming to the criterias

1. He is Muslim
2. he has knowledge about Quran.
3. who has more knowledge about sunnah
3. His appearance is like sunnah.

1st one is compulsory, others are for the decision who can lead the prayer (not for compulsory), like if there are 20 people, then who will lead the prayer, 1st thing will be look he has more knowledge then others, let suppose we don't know each other or there are more then one person who has more knowledge then, they will look who resembles more close to sunnah.

Waqar Latif replied on Thursday, April 16, 2009 08:08 AM

& now for those who think Sunnah is not mandatory, kindly read, what your Imam said about shaving. According to all imam (abu hanfia, malik, shafi, hambal) shaving is haram. & also, Movie "Khuda k liya" wasn't showing true picture of Islam. For GOd sack, give up the ideas have been chiped in your heads. start reading Quran & Hadith, and also if got some time then also read fiqah.
