Just wanted to say/add my understanding on importance of beard in Islam. My thoughts may not be agreed by all as I am still in the learning process.
SUNNAH. Truth was the most recognized/profound quality of Hazarat Muhammad (PBUH) even before nazule Quran/coming of Wahi. He also had so many other tremendous human traits .Please brothers guide me which one should I follow most.
QURAN. As per my learning of Quran havnt come across any verse about keeping beard but so many verses about other essentials. What should I do first keep beard, or follow them.
Beard and Pakistan. Unfortunately in Pakistan beard (ritualism) has damaged Islam. People would kill each other in proving that their length of beard is the actual Islam (Nothing Else).
Growing your heart is more important, To be a better human should be the first sunnat to follow. Belief/respect to all the prophets of Allah is one the basic fundamental of Islam.
Breads are good if we have acquired other basic important essentials of Islam.
I totally disagree to Mr Progress i.e. physically taking beard to heavens such type of beliefs/quotations would compel you towards…. (You know what I mean please wake up).

Usman bi please don't just start jumping issues and pick one thing at a time.Beard, as i said earlier is declared mandatory by all four Imams and they have unanimous opinion over it.Just verify what i have said and if you find it true then never ever defend those who don't keep it. Instead make "irada" that now or at some later stage in our life Allah SWT give both of us "toufiq" to follow this Sunnah of our beloved Prophet (pbuh).Ameen
I recall an incident that once two persons (who used to have beard before) came to Prophet(pbuh) with thick mostaches and beard shaved off. Prophet(pbuh) turned his face away and said with displeasure that who asked you to do so.Also it is not a coincidence that all the Prophets, Suhabas, Tabaeen and Taba Tabaeen had beard.
Molana Tariq Jameel is a great scholar of this time. He clearly says in his bayans that shaving beard is same as negating Prophet(pbuh) Sunnah.Had we been true lover of Prophet(pbuh), it would have been enough for us to keep it after simply knowing that Prophet (pbuh) used to have it and asked to grow it and shave off the moustaches. But unfortunately we know everything but since find it hard to do, so just to hide our inner guilt start defending our wrong act.And this is the point where we actually go wrong.

Usman

Hoping to explain my view simply:

Quran being a universal guideline state that the best example amongst you is the Prophet Muhammad Sal-Allah-u-Alahe-Wassalam. Moreover, the Prophet commands under the commandments of Allah & His obedience is binding on us. Beard is not the starting point rather it is the inner affection of an individual towards his beloved Prophet. Thus, if he also tries to have his appearance similar to his beloved Alhamdulillah it is the hight of expressing his love with his Prophet. Following the path of the Prophet is the best way but if someone is still undecided he should take his time, re-think, clarify his thoughts; may he decide to change his view & thus finding himself in hight of affection of his beloved Prophet. But please do not force any one to have a beard first & then learn how to pray & so on. Means do not begin from the end.

Word MANDATORY means one has to, there remains no question of giving someone time to decide or re think. It is better if we avoid putting our own perspectives / interpetations specially when it comes to religion and go by something authentic.

Usman Bhai!
Please do not infer from actions of other people. You are not resposible for what you have no control over.So if some people with beard have done wrong things and defamed Islam, rather not keeping the beard why not keep it and set a good example.YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS NOT ANYBODY ELSE'S UPON WHOM YOU HAVE NO CONTROL.
Secondly! Of course some things are more important than the others. But one can not leave "smaller" things. One will never be able to reach perfection. So every little thing is of help.
May Allah open our hearts and minds and show us the way of prophet SAW and follow him the way SAHABA did.

Mr. Usman!
Let me say what ever you think about Islam, it does not give you the right for any deliberations on relegion. If you think you possess the qualifications and you are a "Mujadid saani" you have to prove your credentials before the authorities of Fiqah. What ever you said is NOTHING MORE THAN "A TALE TOLD BY AN IDIOT SIGNIFYING NOTHING".

Usman is talking in reference to Quran!
To ba a 100% Muslim; one need to believe in Quran, Unity of Allah, Muhammad (pbuh) as last prohet, Remaining 4 books and angels.
Any one who wish to become Muslim have to believe in above 5 pillars of Islam.
Beared is a non issue. It is not proven as mandatory any where in Quran and making things mandatory which are not mentioned as mandatory by Quran is bigotry in Islam.
One can have beared but not because it is mandatory, Sunnah is not mandatory.
There are numerous Sunnahs like small preys while stepping out of home, going to toilet, eating, sleeping...... what about those?

Its a very serious warning, that ones leaving behind what the messenger salalahu alleyhi wa salam has ordered u to do, is leaving behind the order of Allah ta ala who said

"But no, by thy Lord, they can have no real faith until they make thee judge in all disputes between them and find in their souls no resistance against thy decisions but accept them with the fullest conviction."[An-Nisa: 65]

"The answer of the believers, when summoned to Allah and His apostle, in order that He may judge between them, is no other than this: They say: we hear and we obey!" [An-Nur: 51]

A beard is fard for a man just as a womans hijab is fard for her.It is a grave sin to remove the beard and if one persists in doing that knowing that it is fard and when the evidence have been bought to them then Allahu alam.....
