Undoubtedly uPVC / cPVC are widely used for this purpose but the latest research reveals that they have a tendency to leach contaminant into water.However if some premium grade uPVC / cPVC pipes are available, there is no harm in using them for domestic water / potable water supply systems.Never use tin lined copper or GI pipes.
However if you are looking for something which can be rated as state of the art in pure water piping systems, it is PVDF (polyvinylidine fluoride).It is chemical resistant, abraision resistant, resists well to UV degradation, virtually zero leachables from PVDF piping system,teperature range -40 to 160 deg C, high impact strength, and most importantly inside surface is smooth and clean that completely discourages collection of bacteria and particles.jointing is through butt fusion mechanism that allows no crevices inside with absolutely solid joints.
One of the most important aspects of the water supply system that we often overlook is the construction material of the pumps that we use to supply water.It is very important that all the metal parts of the pumps that remain in contact with the water (specially impeller) should be of Stainless Steel 316L grade.No cast iron or brass at all.Hope it helps. |
