I don’t want to indulge in a debate whether Islamabad is good or bad for living but fact remains that the land prices are too high for no apparent reason. My judgment is based on facts such as:
1. Managed by a corrupt authority like CDA
2. Badly maintained except for few “favored” sectors
3. Nightmare for allergic patients
4. Crumbling law and order situation
5. No job opportunities (non-presence of multinationals and other businesses)
6. High costs of doing business mainly due to high commercial rents
7. Non existence of good educational institutions (from nursery to professional colleges)
In comparison, other big cities of Pakistan like Lahore and Karachi offer better and affordable living though they have their own problems/disadvantages. In short, from any angle these exorbitant prices make no sense to me. |
