Dear CMY I bought a Plot in Julkt 2008 in phase 7 I paid all excepy Stamp Duty. As decision to pay stamp duty was made after 2 weeks but it was applicable from 1st July 2008. DHA office never sent me any letter that i need to pay this 24000 amount. I understand now people are Paying Stamp duty by purchasing stamp papers and writing deal on it and Both parties sign on it.
People who had transfer from 1st July 2008 to August 2008. How they will pay this stamp duty

Jameel bhai for all transfers done after July 1 2008 buyers must pay stamp duty before collection of their allotment letters.

You need transfer date, file or plot number, buyers seller name, their father name and NIC numbers to get stamp duty papers ready to submit to DHA Lahore.

Fee for it in DHA 7 is not 24000 . DHA 7 stamp duty fee is Rs 25000 plus a stamp paper vendor would charge you about Rs 500 get them issued from state bank . Because these are large amount stamp papers they are only issued/certified directly by state bank.

Jameel bhai for many months process of collecting stamp duty was not clear between DHA Lahore and Govt. Before that they were issuing the transfer letters but you did sign an understanding at time of transfer in DHA that when and if stamp duty amount is asked by Govt you are bound to pay it. To sell this plot or to get site plan or map approved you must clear all past due amounts on this plot. getting a transfer letter dont mean you are not liable for stamp duty any more.

Dear Friends as per new budget the property transaction will require NTN no and every body with an NTN no will have to file tax return even if they dont govt knows all the assets listed on the ntn of an individual so it will be a piece of cake for the govt to impose wealth tax which already prevails in pakistan for every body whose net worth is 10 lacs and above.
I spoke with a Tax lawyer as per him buying property may not be a problem even the prices might be same for some time but holding the property will be just like inviting tax trouble for sure.
ultimately the demand will come down and for sure the prices will come down too.
GOOD NEWS for genuine home buyers.
Any body felt offended with this discussion please accept my apologies.
Thanks
Khan
