Bahrain by car,

I am from riyadh and want to go to Bahrain by car. If someone on this forum has ever experienced such a trip, please provide details about the documents required and charges at causeway.

If you have re-entry visa of Saudi than just drive to Al-Khobar and there on....you will find your way to the causeway.
If i rememeber correctly, 6 years ago the charges (car inssurance) at crossing were about 20SAR and perhaps 25SAR more for the 48hrs. visa stamp.
Every thing goes smoothly in routine.
Don't try to bring back alcohal.

Following are the prerequisite for visiting Bahrain by Car.
1. Valid Exit re-entry
2.The car should be registered in your name or a permission from owner duly certified from Chambers.
3.You need to pay SR 20 for causeway toll.
4. You need to pay SAR 15 for Car insurance in Bahrain
5.If you profession is Laboure by Iqama then only you need to pay SR 20 for 72 hour VISA otherwise entry is free.

this is based on my last visit that is 26th July 2009.

Just run to the causeway. The crowded bridge (especially on weekends), the cars, honking of horns, the behaviour of "Shurta" and the treatment you will get, will Insha'allh make you understand the things by yourself. You will never, i repeat never want to undertake this adventure again.

I am a resident of Bahrain and if you really want my personal advice, then please never even think of driving all the way to Bahrain from Riyadh. The trouble is too big to be described in words as they have hired some of the worst people in Saudi Immigration, who have no respect for no one whosoever he/she may be (excluding Americans of course!). On top of that, the landscape from Riyadh to Bahrain is extremely monotonous, boring & dangerous as well. Better take a flight out of many, which are operating on daily basis.

Thanks a lot for the information.Tell some suitable place to stay, cheaper hotels(3 stars), and soem good places to visit like famous malls etc.Also please tell whether my parents who are here on a visit visa can accompany me.
Further a 3 months exit / re entry is enough or it should e min 6 months exit / re entry.

Your parents cannot visit Bahrain if they are on visit visa to Saudi Arabia or else they are carrying Bahrain visa. They cannot get Bahrain visa from Saudi Arabia. Your exit/re entry for even 7 days will work. Frankly speaking, malls in Bahrain are not very much different than in Al Khobar e.g. Al Rashid Mall, Mall of Dhahran and King Fahd Park in Dammam is worth seeing. Better take your parents to Al Khobar / Dammam - definitely they will enjoy seeing Eastern Province. Do not forget to see Al Khobar Dammam corniche. In Al Khobar there are lot of hotels and furnished apartments. There is nothing worth seeing in Bahrain other than free mix up of genders.

Why you are going to bahrain. a dirty place for sex only.Come to ABHA a hill station now a days full of tourist all over the gulf. Take your car. Then go by car to makka to perform umra by 500+ km hilly road which i sure is not comparable in senic by any road in world.
