The Pakistani economy is projected to grow by about 2.5%. We need to get our act together and grow our economy faster than that of India or at least to be able to keep pace with it.

IMF raises India’s growth forecast

WASHINGTON: The International Monetary Fund on Wednesday raised India’s growth forecast to 5.4 per cent for 2009, even as it projected the world economy to shrink by 1.4 per cent.

In April, it forecast a growth of 4.5 per cent for India. In its update to the World Economic Outlook, the IMF said the global economy would contract by 1.4 per cent. Earlier it had projected a growth of 1.3 per cent. The Chinese economy would expand by 7.5 per cent, as against 6.5 per cent forecast in April, it said.

“The global economy is beginning to pull out of a recession unprecedented in the post-World War II era, but stabilisation is uneven and the recovery is expected to be sluggish,” the IMF said.

I just returned from India. In Delhi, there are so many cranes and new construction sights, it almost looked like Dubai 5 years ago. Delhi has a great subway system for mass transit and they are adding a new line from the airport to downtown. Every where is construction.

In Lahore, soooo many construction projects have come to a stop and the buildings are now empty shells. COME ON PAKISTAN. GET WITH THE REST OF THE WORLD !!! WAKE UP OR THE WORLD WILL PASS YOU BY.

Pakistanis are running after roti kapra makan.
@vesss: Were you not in Pakistan from ?
Pakistan did marvelous all round job during this period.
I remember in 2005 we planned to build home but there was no labor in the market. Every contractor and labor was busy.
I rememebr there was a time when steel mill and PIA were making profits and one plot in Islamabad and one at main boulevard Lahore was sold at higher price than Swiss property to foreign investors.

@Nabeel: Pakistan army also have industrial sector and it also defeated Indian (state and private) industry in the sector of defence production, despite the fact that funds were not made available to Pak's profitable defence sector.
