These bullet proof jackets are too expensive to give to each soldier. They cost too much to give to all military men but they could be given to front line solders and police commandos etc. I believe they should be given to each security guard that is on entry gates of police training centers etc or check posts etc.

It seems govt owned bulletproof BMW and Mercedes for politicians or other Govt officials are more important to have than saving life of our brave military personal.

In my opinion bullet resistant vests are under-utilized in Pakistan. Those are not expensive. Perhaps less than two months salary of lowest ranks even if imported, and less than one month salary if made locally.

But.... who cares.

These poor forces fellas don't know the advantage of Personal protective equipment.their comandres need to emphasize on the subject.

am fully agreed with Mr. Naveed.
I am a common man nto related with any safety or secuirty related organization, working in one of gulf country, when I see secuirity measures being taken here in some important installations, we surprise why such small small details being ignored secuirty needed places in Pakistan. Beleive me with little efforts and taking the issues seriously and faithfully many of lives can be saved.

These jackets are locally made at Air Weapons Complex,wah and are also in frequent use of Pak Army, rangers, MP, etc.If you get a chance to look at the pics or videos of soldiers / rangers operating in wanna or waziristan, can identify jacket with steel plate worn by them. Offcourse each and every soldier can not be equipped with it.The one now used by americans in Afghanistan and iraq are moisture winking vest, worn under the dress,weighing around 14 kg and cost aroud 1600$ each.Ours are cheaper and cover only front and back, lung areas can be targeted easily, but the ones used by americans cover that portion also.

I rememeber Pak army was never provided by bullet proof jackets and night vision googles by Americans.
The so called ally of Pakistan and want always more.
Pak army was forced to fight in SAWAT without such gear where as Terrorists has always used the best gear available in US kitty.
Do we not remember how the terrorists of red mosque were equiped?

Cost of BPJ in Pakistan is around 30 thousand rupees. modern version of bullet proof jacket is made of special cloth/cavelar and ceramic plates older version has steel plates.Ceramic plates give better protection against trauma effect(even if bullet does not penetrate, trauma effect can easily break bones or similar damage on vital human parts and disable/seriously injure a person).world wide BPJ are classified as per their level of protection from class 1 to 4(4 most protective).The ones civil police use are are less bulkier and give lesser protection(only made of layers of cavelar cloth but effective to guard against pistol/small arm fire and sharp blades).
Pakistan army is using the best ones now locally manufactured.

It means victim soldier family should file murder case against Pakistan army if some one dies with bullet wound in chest or head.

in Canada every soldier police labor worker packer janitor seaurity guard mechanic has legal right to refuse work if personal protective equipment is not provided .

No army rules are usually not like this sue/case etc.On orders every soldier/officer is bound to perform/operate in all conditions with or without very sophisticated equipment.How ever every army tries to equip its soldiers with the best equipment,for a country like Pakistan which is poor and has a huge number of personal, it is difficult to equip whole army in one year/short time.
