DHA Ordinance Rejected by PML-N
Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday 23 December 2009 urged the government to withdraw the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) bill.
Ch. Nisar Ali Khan has one lake kanal land in proposed DHA Valley & Phase-2 Extension & he is not willing to give his land to DHA. Malik Bari has also thousands of kanal land there and he is against Malik Riaz and not willing to give his land to DHA.
So, far DHA has purchased only 10% land of Valley. DHA has not purchased any land in Phase-1 Extension , DHA phase-2 extension and DHA Overseas accept approach road.
DHA want to take land by force or at low cost. But DHA authority is not certified by Parliament yet.

Its only the right of the state to Acquire land (only for mega projects e.g roads, dams etc) not the Army sponsor DHA to get land from any one by force. |

The Bill has passed the National Assembley Standing Committee, so it would probably be enacted into law.
We need an authority that can acquire land and turn into housing scheme to address the housing shortage in the country. Otherwise DHA will turn into another CDA where it would take decades to bring an area into housing use. |
