Future Of Pakistani Ruppee,

(56547)
Tuesday, February 2, 2010 02:14 PM

Brothers,

What is the future of Pakistani ruppee?

I ask because for overseas investors, it is very hard to invest in Pakistan any more. I bought plot at Rs 60 only 1.5 years ago and though the price of plot has not gone up the ruppee has devalued to 85 against $. What I hear that ruppee will go down further, it discourages me to put up a house on that empty plot or make any further investment.

Am I the only one in this concern????

Experts, please shed some light on this important topic.

Thank you!

Simple answer is if you making home to live then don't think about devalue. Ruppee is always been devalue and it will continue, due to our poltical and financial unstability.

If you are putting money in for investment point of view. Then do think twice.

Dear friends,

I request your kind advice.

Dear Ali Khan,
Gain of profit in property is obvious but no when can predict when it will happen. There are hundreds and hundreds who lost their hard earn money in property as short term investor but you will hardly find one who lost in long terms. It is like a travel from A to Z and no one knows this is the beginning or last bit of journey.

If you can wait you invest in property otherwise stay away.
I believe economic condition of country is not going to improve in near future as we have not set to right direction yet and I sincerely suggest you to hold your hard earn money unless you see light of improvement.

Friend is right. There is no match for a homeless person to build a house against keeping money in Forex. Financial loss means nothing against domestic, social & psychological benefits (peace of mind). Any way u can make up the loss by renting it out if u remain aborad.

For an expat, following is the solution to the given devaluation problem:

Keep ur money in Forex unless u carefully decide invest it in Pakistan. If u want to invest, do Istekhara beforehand. Future is not known to anybody thus psychological deception comes when we try to calculate it in Forex terms. Once it is invested, measure ur gain or loss in PKR only.

Think of a situation: u were analysing an investment 1.5 years earlier but afraid of currency valuation u had foregone the opportunity. Although, rupee depreciated & ur decision proven correct to that extent but on the other hand u might have missed an opportunity to secure a higher gain, had there been a great appreciation in that investment.

Infact, currency gain is not a real gain because else everything get adjusted over a period of time direct or in inverse proportion.
