This is lying. I have Indian friends and they are saying that their roads are full of beggars. There are high levels of crimes in all over India and top class corruption exists in all of their institutions as well.

very starnge u did not see the era lord Macaulays is talking about, at that time there were not much corruption in the whole universe but now if some one says that there is place in india that people are highly counted as a word "Caliber" than i believe that this is proven that India is truely a biggest LIER, jitni bhook, chori,rape,corruption,murder, even udhar ka bacha bacha is so hihgly tranined inn cheezun ma ka one can not imagine thier so called CALIBER

Naveed, very good analysis and you really stole my thunder. It is a chain mail that occassionally makes it way to the inboxes. The language of this chain letter is very similar to some Amitabh 'parampra' type dialogue to restore Indian self esteem. Two other points, from whatever literature we have available from that era, i.e. Ghalib et al, economic situation of India were less than steller. The other point is that I cant imagine a Brit raving about Indian culture in 1835 when in 2010, they cant stand it.
