Now days what is the best option available for Investment. Property/Gold/Foreign Currency/Migration to foreign Country. Comments espacialy from CMY are welcomed.

CMY replied on Saturday, October 16, 2010 06:26 PM

IMRAN bhai honestly speaking I am now also confused about Property/Foreign Currency/Migration to foreign Country options.

If possible migration to a foreign country might be best option for most people that can get visa for this option at this time even though I dont like or want to recommend it.

Pakistan is at lot worse position than when I came back to Pakistan in Dec 2005 after spending more than two decades of my lifetime in KSA and USA. It painful to see Pakistan going back to worst and worst day after day in every field.

BTW at this time Gold is the worst possible investment in my opinion. As a day trader in US stocks for more than 12 years I could tell you there are over 90% chances any NEW investment TODAY in Gold will give you huge losses in very near future. Please do save my this post and we will have a talk about Gold in after 6 months.

Dear CMY

Pl shed some light & guide us as per ur experience, y the Gold has so up & y u think it will cum down?

JK replied on Sunday, October 17, 2010 10:18 AM

Every rise has a fall and so I believe CMY Bhai has expected for Gold,

I remember he said buying gold will be suicidal when its price was UDA $ 1136 per ounce some time ago.

Today gold is 1368 / ounce and I believe gold price will go as high as USD$ 2000/ounce by year 2012 and then might get reverse,

where as investing in files / plots has no future at all for minimum 5 years

gold is gold replied on Sunday, October 17, 2010 10:56 AM

USA will sell his stock and recover his losses (money spent in wars, very soon today or tomorrow we will not find any GOLD buyer in the market.

Selling US Stocks will pull Dollar prices even lower against other currencies, while as much as I know it is the Princely states & big bankers, especially from the eastern part of the World who are investing these days in the Gold. What will be consequence then? Can anybody advise?

KAR replied on Sunday, October 17, 2010 11:24 AM

As a normal person with updated news about current affairs can advise you to invest in all the things you mentioned above except gold. However, invest a portion of your portfolio which is in "high-risk" to "medium-risk" category which should not be more than 50% of your total savings. The 50% of the savings can be in secure category (bonds, tangible real estate, etc) for the time being.
There is no magic formula to make you rich quickly like before purely based on speculation. The speculators are gone and will not return soon. Now it is a game for cautious investors.
Hence, invest now as this is the right to invest in all areas and diversify your portfolio.
Re situation in Pakistan, it is my opinion it will only improve from here as bad Pakistan is not in anybody's favour including our neighbours. The future of the world is in Asia and when your neighbouring 2 fastest growing countries in the world, your development is inevitable albeit may not be at the same pace.
We have a population of 1.8m and our retard educational system is still producing one of the best human resources in the world. We just need strong leadership and good policy making which is not as hard to get as it looks. May Allah bless us all and have faith in Pakistan and its people.

AA,
Dear CMY,

Sorry to disagree with you regarding gold, the fake paper currency holders will soon realize this as US$ will continue to devalue from now to coming years you will see gold prices going up steeply. Paper currency, stocks, property files have no intrinsic value only gold has intrinsic value and it has been reliable for past 6000 years. Going a little back into history learn about the paper currency devaluation e.g in Germany, where people used to burn it for keeping themselves warm.
For all the brilliant wise people investing their wealth in paper currencies, stocks (All rigged) and specially US$, good luck to them. I would recommend diversifying your investment specially in gold even at this higher rates.

(PS.I have saved your note now lets wait and see for coming 2 to 3 years)

I agree with what CMA rightly said, “Pakistan is at lot worse position than when I came back to Pakistan in Dec 2005 after spending more than two decades of my lifetime in KSA and USA. It painful to see Pakistan going back to worst and worst day after day in every field”.
With all ups and down, Pakistan was moving forward before ‘democracy’.

I like CMY for being clear and open about his opinions. He doesnt believe in giving "well guarded" statements with a lot of ifs and buts:)
He is not alone in his feelings about the conditions of Pakistan. Believe me overseas immigration is the hottest topic amongst the worker community.
As for gold: world renowned economists (icl the magazine Economist) also said the same thing at 1136 level. Then the US extended its job loss insurance/support program basically saying we will print currency to support domestic jobs. And since that day gold has risen by almost 10%.

Refer to Sura Asar, Allah has sworn that all human beings are in loss except those

Who are believers
Who do good deeds
Who support the right
who are contented.

Several factors play part in deciding gold prices, however currency and interest rates are more closely linked with gold price.

Currently it's predicted that gold price will go upto $1500 per ounce. This might or might not happen.

The recent rise in gold price is seen due to weak currencies mainly dollar and recrod low interest rates in the west (for eg: 0.50 in UK which is the lowest ever. early last year it was 5.75), hence people are not saving or investing in bank products because it's not worthwhile and the shift towards gold.

This is seriously hurting the economy and govts in the west. They cannot afford to keep the interest rates this low for long.
Ultimately the interest rates will go up and that's when the gold prices will come down again, which is very likely to be next year.

In terms of people wanting to go overseas, I can understand the sentiment of those people, however Pakistanis living abroad continue to dream of going back to their motherland. It all depends upon, where you are coming from.

Inshallah things will get better in Pakistan.

Muhammad replied on Monday, October 18, 2010 07:12 AM

I find the last two posts (by Asif and Saleem Malik) very thoughtful and correct. Eventually interest rates and stock performance in the west will go up (they always do) and make gold less attractive. Timing is any body's guess.

As for immigration, in general people have different set of problems when in Pakistan and a different set of challenges after immigration. There may be more opportunities and less challenges in Pakistan (as compared to west)for one person and vice-versa for another person. Many immigrants to the west spend their entire life looking for grocery store discount coupons, cheap deals on airline tickets worrying about health insurance coverage and about cultural and lingual detachment of their children from Pakistan. On the other hand children raised in Pakistan know every thing about Pakistan as well as west because of global influence of the west. After you have achieved something after struggle you find that most of your life is over.

No matter which option suites you more the ultimate answer is in Sura Asr and Sura Takathur
