I do not know what is your experience in construction. You should pay keeping in mind how much work has been completed. Draw out a schedule of payment depending upon the stage. Like Foundation after DPC. Then On the Lintels for door/windows. Then on stage of lintels on ground floor etc.Be very careful and talk to different contractors about their schedule of payment. |

In the construction industry it is hard to oversmart a petty labor contractor. He will always take more than the work done. Avoid petty contractor, deal with a Construction Company/Builder having physical location(office) A good company may cost 10% to 15% more than petty/ street contractors but then it is worth it. Write the contract with payment schedule according to the stages of work. If you deal with petty contractor, then take a feed back from the site from some one whom you trust. Work it out on an Excel Sheet with the number of masons and laborers employed on daily basis by the Petty contractor, this will give you fair idea about the cost of civil works done and he will not be able to take substantially more money from you then the work done on ground. |
