Immigration to canada,

(64952)
Wednesday, May 11, 2011 09:00 AM

Dear Friends,
This is not a property related question, but actually i need some advice from people who are already in canada (through immigration). I am working here in uae and earning good money (around $10,000/month tax free). Now I have got immigration to canada (applied long time back). I need to know if it is worth moving to canada considering that there are too many taxes and saving is very difficult. But at the same time when we look at the situation in pakistan, there is very little scope to go back to pakistan and lead a good life (due to so many problems and security issues). I would apprecaite if the friends on this site could give their opinion.

Dear Imran,
What is there to ask?Ask anybody living in Pakstan if they want to immigration to Canada.MY Dear dont think just buy ticket and go to Canada or even Chile, they will say yes..without blinking there eye. In my opinion living a life in Middle East is not worth even you earn 10,000 or 20,000 $ tax free. But even if you live whole life in Middle east in the end of the day you will be returning to Pakistan. And my dear brother situation in Pakistan is not very healthy. Problems are too high. Non Resident Pakistanis find hard to adjust when they come back.
This is my advice rest is up to you. Best of luck.

If you believe that you will find the job in Canada then forget about it. The job market is not as good as USA. People beg for $ 6/hour job. I do not know about your profession so in my opinion, don't resign from your existing job. Just visit canada during your vaccation time to process and secure all the required ID's that includes Social Insutrance No, Driving Licence and Medical Card. I will not suggest you to loose the job and go there to stay. I know several candians working in the middle east because of the poor canadian job market.

10000 is not too great salary in UAE but I dont know your profession, Keep Canada an Option If You are comfortable in UAE keep on Delaying Landing as much as you can then come Back after getting PR Card still You will have 2 ys and Max 3 ys[If You dont go in 3 ys your File will be Cancelled] Earn little More Money in UAE and meanwhile explore Canada May be economy will improve there in few years.
I have two friends in Canada one is well settled and other in Under heavy loan as he Could not get good Job, Both are qualified and experienced engineers, I Know another MBA driving taxi he spend 4 Months in Pakistan and 6 Months In Canada his Family is in Pakistan.
I Know some Doctors in UAE they are getting very good salary and did not go to Canada after getting PR card and hence their File is cancelled.

That is total true many Canadian come to Middle east for job but they get much higher pay when they have Canadian passport. On one hand a Pakistani Citizen will get pay of 12000$ only but on the other a western Citizen can get double pay for his colour of Passport. Arabs admire westerns. Go to Saudi Arabia on Pakistani Passport whether on Umrah or Work, and let me know how they treat you. On other hand ask one of your relative living in England, who has an ugly face, to travel to Saudi Arabia, and then compare the difference how they treat Western Citizens and Pakistani Citizens. Bottom line is dont lose your immigration chance. Many smart people get immigration and keep on working on there jobs in middle east. But there is no future in Middle East in my vision.

I hold a canadian immigration and working in ME. First, no question about it, get immigration.

Secondly, $ 6 / h job is not difficult to get , as mentioned above. If you are educated and willing to work, you will get a office job ( not labour work or taxi ) to cover your monthly expenses.

Saving is not there. Saving is only in ME. However, as mentinoed by Ahmed above, every one has to leave ME one day. SO in short, my advise is to go on vacation, get your immigration . and then decide whether you want to leave your current job and staty in canada for a couple of years to get citizenship or how to go about it. Age does ont, if you go to canada till late 30s, early 40s , chances are that after struggle fo 1-2 year,s u will end up ni a career job. SO its upto u.

Overall, agree with Ahmed and habib. Just wanted to correct that now adays, there is no major salry difference with a Canadian Passport or pakistnai. it used to be there before. Howeve,r your employment visa is easy, at least in Qatar, as paksitani work visas are not available easily. Also, even with Canadain Passport, your skin and you will stillb e a pakistani, so one does not get a salary benefit.

I had a chance to migrate to the UK, but one of my Britich muslim friends advised me not to do that. You can earn a lot of money in Canada, but you have 1000% chances to spoil your children. If they are with you, they will be spoiled because of the system and environment. If they are not with you, they will be spoiled living without you. Make a cluster to number things you like or prefer in your life. We like many things, but we don't prefer them for us. My brother think about: 1. What do you want to do in your life? 2. Why do you want to do that? 3. If you do that, then what? 4. If you can't do that, then what? 5. What do you like for your kids and why? 6. What is better for them for the future here in the world and for the future of hereafter.
I am writing all this because: The Holy Phrophet (PBUH} said that consultation [mashwarah] brings 2 rewards if successful, but only 1 if it is unsuccessful and that is because of the good intention of the person whom you consult. May Allah help you take the right decision!

Dear All,
many thanks for your advice,
Regarding getting a job there, i have many friends in oil and gas industry over there and i even had a telephonic job interview. So most probably i will get the job of an engineer over there (similar to my existing job but with less salary and more taxes). Amjad KSA has rightly pointed to an important point, that it is almost impossible over there to avoid getting your kids spoilt. I went over there for one week and got my PR card, but now i need to finalize if i need to go there leaving this job or get the PR card cancelled.

Imran please Correct me 10K Lump sum salary In UAE? And you are telling that you are experienced Pertrollium engineer, I Think your salary must be about 20 to 40K, may be saving is 10 K

Imran uae replied on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 01:35 PM

Dear jameel it is 10000 dollars, not 10000 dirhams.

Amjad Ksa- I dont believe that one can only get spolied in Canada or Usa. Come on be realistic if a child is going to get spoiled he or she can get spoiled in Ksa or Pakistan or even inn any Muslim country. Look at the young generation of Pakistan. And apart from that Dubai is also famous for several things. There are good and bad things of every society/country. We Pakistanis always mock and talk negative about the West even though its our die-hard fantasy to move there. The new generation of the Pakistan is already 2 hands advanced then the West.

@ Imran,
If you want a secure living with assurance and guarantee that you may stay for lifetime, then apply for Singapore PR.
Here you will find good jobs, salary, and mixture of eastern and western culture.
There are pretty less chances that your kids may spoil here , as Singapore has big Muslim community (Indian and Malyaisan) , halal food everywhere and mosques in every town

CS replied on Thursday, May 12, 2011 07:44 AM

Furthermore, the salary is taxable but not heavily like US or Canada.
Tax is applied subject to your salary bracket and also is not linearly applied to whole salary but progressively.

What about parents visa for those who have PR card. Is it possible to keep your parents with you over there permanently (like uae) or they can just come for a shore visit.

Mohsin replied on Thursday, May 12, 2011 10:48 AM

@Imran UAE and all,

I am living in UAE and working as Planning and Control Engineer in Sharjah. I think UAE is 2nd to Pakistan as choice of living. I think all of us should not be afraid of anything. Having Pakistani passport is not something to be ashamed of. Its your personality which defines how you should be treated not your passport.
I am of the opinion that there is great saving in UAE - getting job here settles one for lifetime. You can achieve all your life's goals within few years of stay here. Home in Pakistan, Car, good education for kids and good life style. Pakistan is just 1 Hr 30 mins from here. You can attend all your ceremonies in Pakistan and attend your relatives well. Whereas in Canada, theres alot of struggle. Unless you are from Oil and Gas field and have some working experience abroad (like in UAE)- they do not even consider you. Other fields like Business, IT, etc have tough time in the beginning. If you call your parents to Canada then your other siblings will long for them in their absence.

Last bu not the least, please have firm belief in God and faith. We just cannot control every aspect of our lives. Allah provides the rizq whether your in UAE, Canada or Pakistan. Please understand that people living abroad have to sacrifice alot. I must state an example here. My brother was in UK for 2.5 years and he could only come to Pakistan to attend funeral of our father. The life is not all about earning :)its beyond that :)

Dear Imran, the whole point of going to Canada is to get a passport in 3-4 years time, its not the saving, you MUST go and retain your PR first of all, do not leave your current job, You can work for 2-3 Years in UAE without having to go to Canada permanently, keep on trying for a job online or pay visits in Summers...You can get admission in a good UNI for a MS course and work partime as well,,point is that get the second passport for which you have been waiting, If you have good links in UAE, you will again get this job...Remember that people in Libya, Bahrain, and Tunis were well settled but what happened....And about kids,, they wont be spoilt in 3-4 years,,,Also,, immigration is getting difficult day by day,,,few profession remain in Canada,,,UK is nearly closed and Australia changing too quickly,,,I would say,,,you must go and land atleast,,,and you have next three years to analyze,
