Dear friends,

Can someone clarify that in the education system prevailing in our country what level of education would be called as post secondary. Also what level would be called secondary. And is there any level called intermediate also because we do have board of secondary and intermediate education Or just tell what would be someones level if he has done

1. Matric
2. FA / Fsc
3. BA / BSc

Admin, please let it stay for a while until i get the right answer, thanks

Nadeem replied on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 06:27 PM

Class 5 (5 years of education) is primary. Matric (Class 10, 10 years of education) is secondary. FA/FSc (Class 12, 12 years of education)is Intermediate. BA/BSc (Class 14, 14 years of education) is graduation. MA/MSc (Class 16, 16 years of education)is post graduation. PhD is doctorate.

Anything after matric is post secondary. Hope this clarifies.

Secondary is class 8 and 9-10 is HSSC 'higher secondary school certificate'.
FA FSc is freshman.
In past Pakistan's HSSC (9-10) used to be in Urdu medium whereas university education has always been in English, therefore it was helpful for this transition but now all school education is in english therefore FSc is only waste of time for english medium school children.
Those who understands this injustice, they opt. for for cambridge exams, aka 'A' 'O' level etc. and jump to University without wasting time in FSc.

Dear Nadeem,
Is'nt any education after the high school (12) is post secondary !!
If someone asks me to submit post secondary educational certificates / degree, dont you think i must only submit certificates that i have got after my 12. My FA / Fsc certificate should not be included in that !!

you do need to surprise mr SAJJAD'
because what others societies r doing, what bahria did,and now what DHA is doing. peoples lost thier worth buying phase 9/10 files at the rate of 45/47 lakhs and now even no one want to buy them even 15 lakhs, what is going on in LDA avenue, curruption, letigation, fraud bundle of problems, compare eden transfer procedure with others societies far better than others in eden u have to pay only 10 thousands for transfer but others society u have to pay more than 10 thouseand as a bribe and transfer fee is far far ur imagination. compare others facilites , i have also two houses in eden and to be handed over at the end of this year. i have been informed by me cousin that hopefully society in interested to hand over them in nov this year.i understand the delay reason but at least we r not losing our worth as people already loose buying files of dha.so please write on facts and reality rather than on conspiracy.

In Pakistan
- completing 10th is called Matric / Secondary School Certificate(SSC)
- completing 12th is called Intermediate/FA/FSC / Higher Secondary School Certificate(HSSC).
- completing 14 years is BA. now some universitites also offering 16 yes BA/BSC/BBA.

O level is equivalent to 10th/matric/SSC
A level is equivalent to 12th/FA/FSC/HSSC

INFORMED replied on Thursday, May 12, 2011 09:34 AM

Also note that HSSC/FA/FSC/Intermediate of Pakistan is equivalent to 'High School' of USA/Canada/UK/Australia etc and valid for admission to any university of the world in Bachelors program.

INFORMED replied on Thursday, May 12, 2011 09:41 AM

@Ahmed....... yea ur children will get equivalency for Matric/SSC of Pakistan, if they r doing O-level anywhere in the world; it DOES NOT matter if they do not study urdu, pak studies, islamiat being in a foreign country.

also if they do 'A-level' in any country outside Pakistan without studying urdu, pak studies, islamiat, they will get equivalency for HSSC/FSC/FA/Intermediate of Pakistan.

DO NOT WORRY.

INFORMED replied on Thursday, May 12, 2011 09:47 AM

this is official website of Pakistan govt doing equivalency for those having 9 to 12 years of education outside Pakistan: www.ibcc.edu.pk

Dear INFORMED,

If someone (from abroad any uni or immigration office) asks me to submit post secondary educational certificates / degree, do i need to send my FA / FSc cert also or technically it should be only those degrees / cert that i have received after my FA / FSc.

Amar replied on Thursday, May 12, 2011 06:04 PM

Dear Limu,
Your question is good and it is also an attempt to understand our education system. Internationally known standards are below:
Upto Class 4 is Primary
6-8 is Middle
9-12 is Secondary
4 Years after Secondary is Graduation/Bachelor
2 Years after Graduation/Bachelow is Master.
Further to this is PhD and so on.

Anything after secondary would be considered as Post Secondary.
Hope the above clarifies.
Regards,
Amar-Kuwait.

On my 10 class school certificate it WRITES 'Higher Secondary School Certificate' it was issued in 1990.
Class 8 use to be 'Secondary School Certificate' and class 5 use to be 'Primary School Certificate'
FA is freshman of arts and FSc is freshman of science.
BA-MA and BSc-MSc are Bachelor-Masters of arts and science respectively.
Phd are doctrate.

Dear Amar,

perfect, i am absolutely clear.thanks

INFORMED replied on Friday, May 13, 2011 09:25 AM

@Pakistani ..... please recheck ur 10th class certificate, if it is from Pakistan it cannot show HSSC.

@limu ...... generally in education world, post secondary means after 12 years.

HSSC is only used in Pakistan or may be somewhere in sub-continent; in rest of the world normally secondary school means 12th, Amar is right.

Fahdaj replied on Monday, June 27, 2011 05:23 AM

i think Post Secondary means all education you have done after Intermediate
because Post secondary means after secondary education, so it includes all Bachelors Degrees you have

AM i rite?
