can any one update latest map of ring road. CMY replied on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 07:46 AM
I visited interchange of ring road near Sui Gas 1 and State Life phase 1. I was surprised to see its not a full / proper interchange and only a bridge on top of ring road so traffic from Sui Gas 1 could go to State Life 1 etc. No entry or exit from ring road for Sui Gas or State life etc? This bridge is just accommodating the road traffic that was running along ganda Nalla in front of Sui Gas HS. It means only one proper interchange for entry or exit from DHA Lahore on Lahore ring road will be at DHA5 and DHA6 interchange. Any one have better info please do share it here for our knowledge. as per my information, the bridge is actually an interchange but different than the Abdullah Gul or DHA-5 interchanges that have a round down approaches (mimicking a flower). The bridge lands in State Life and then there is a round about (park) through which traffic will enter the ring road. The ring road sidelanes also enter into Sui gas town and run parallel to the bridge. The bridge will certainly connect with DHA -5 (LGS road) and for that matter a couple of houses and a Kabaria will be demolished. As per LRR PMU sources there is a dispute as to how Sui Gas -1 will be accommodated in the process as Sui Gas Society is demanding access from DHA Phase-V as well as from main ring road. If that happens, it would place Sui Gas society at a very formidable/accessible position by which Sui Gas residents will have direct and speedy access to both DHA and Ring Road/ Ferozpur road. |

@ Osman..you have provided very useful information...a person coming from ferozpur road side on ring road..how he will enter statlife-1..if there there is no round up or round down approach?? |

Actually, Punjab Government (LRR project) is in process of acquiring land to construct 8 km dual carriage way connecting main ring road (northern loop ) with Ferozpur road at Gaju Matta. This will further connect to Kalma chowk flyover (now under construction). This has been done because of lack of funds to start the southern loop. However, it will greatly benefit DHA-5/6 , Sui Gas and State Life-1 residents that otherwise were very distant from Ferozpur road. As far as connectivity of adjacent societies like Sui Gas-1 and State Life-1 is concerned, these shall be given access through sidelanes. Now coming to your precise question, while coming from Ferozpur , I think you will take the sidelane and head for the park straigth away , take a round turn (without climbing up the bridge) and enter into State Life (Hopefully State Life will erect a gate over there) Actually since my house is under construction in Sui Gas-1 I was more curious about the entry/exit points. The engineer showed be a highly technical drawing from which I picked up the planned routes. I learned that Sui Gas has been assured of entry/exit point to the ring road. I am keeping my fingers crossed as construction on ring road and its sidelanes is in full swing. DHA is very interested in getting its Phase-V connected to the bridge to provide DHA-4 residents access to ring road but there is a simmering dispute between the powerful directors of DHA and Sui Gas Society, the same friction that thwarted DHA's attempt to take over Sui Gas in 2009. I will check on more details from LRR sources and keep posted |

Thanks Osman, but confusion is still there...if you are coming from ferozpur side then you are on left hand side of ring road and statelife would be at your right side and there is center median/barrier on ring road ..how you go to right side..as i know on ring road like projects there is no round about or U-turn on it. |
Osman replied on Thursday, May 19, 2011 09:33 AM
I vividly remember the technical drawing (map showed clusters of coordinates etc). What I gathered was like........ 1. Traffic coming from Ferozpur (left side) runs under the overhead bridge, turns left into Sui Gas through a road ( being constructed parallel to the landing of the bridge) 2. The traffic will encounter a roundabout (where Sui Gas Society's present gate is installed which will be pushed back) 3. Through the roundabout, the traffic will climb the over head bridge and land deep into State Life If you visit Sui Gas society, you will see one kanal sui gas houses sandwiched between the under construction bridge and two under construction roads. Now one of those roads (not the bridge) is the one entering from ring road (for traffic coming from Ferozpur rd) and the other one will take traffic from Suigas and DHA to the ring road towards DHA-5/6 interchange. This very road rejoins ring road right in front of my plot (F-95) Hope it clarifies some of your confusion! Now the million dollar question is that if DHA gets connected with this vital bridge (remember, DHA Phase-9/10 are planned behind StateLife society so this bridge could connected DHA-4/5 with 9/10), if yes, I expect Sui Gas Society would finally get rid of its much maligned Ganda nulla single road approach ! |

I visited pakistan 6 months back and road along ganda nala was widened and two lane road was going towards sui gas -1.. u already got rid of single road single road approach..i am sure this bridge will be major link between DHA phase4/5 with phase 9/10..can you please get a drawing and post it here from PMU of ring road..thanks |
