I was born in mid 1970s and I saw my childhood during early / mid 80s. I still remember at that time, we used to wait anxiously for 14 Aug to celeberate Independence day. I belonged to a middle class family so did not have the luxury to have long pocket - at times, I didn't even have the money to buy a chewingum - still, me and millions of children like me, used to save their pockey money to buy Pakistani Flags and ghandian, just to celebrate 14 Aug.

I still remember the National songs aired on PTV used to excite us a lot - who can forget the songs like:

- Watan ki mitti gawaah rehna (Nayyra Noor)
- Yeh Watan Tumhara Hai, tum ho paban iske (Mehdi Hassan)
- Khayaal Rakhna (Alamgir, Benjamin Sisters)
- and so on...

I remember at that time, I did not have the money nor the qualification - did not even know how to drive motorbike or car...BUT my country treated me with its best - my country helped me to gain qualification through ordinary govt. schools by paying nominal fee. I acquired higher qualification through govt. universities and then I found my way to countries abroad.

I started living outside Pakistan, managed to get a luxurious life - got tremendous experience and exposure about economic and financial myths...at the same time, my country went through its most difficult time in history, simply because this country was generous enough to accomodate every one including those corrupt politicians and military leadership. The country allowed them to suck its blood and eat its meat by all means and never complained.

Now when I have become a "qualified and matured" person and country needs my support, I am evaluating whether or not it is safe to invest in Pakistan? Whether or not I should return back to Pakistan simply because there is loadshedding? I am happy to tell others that Pakistan is a difficult country, but I never had the courage to tell them this country had helped me when I did not even know how to turn on a computer.

Is this attitude acceptable? How will the nature forgive me if I ignore my country and don't return what it deserves? A country is superior than parents - will we accept to ignore our parents when they need us? and if we do, how will the society call us? (I don't want to mention that word).

All, let us take a step forward. Please do something for this country as this is the ONLY source of our recognition around the world.

Overseas Pakistanis, please ignore what "Financial Times" forecasts about our country - we have proved in the past that we can always surprise others with our skills, let's do it again. If we can help our country regain its footing, we will emerge as the strongest, most proud nation in the world.

Let's do that and insha ALLAH, ALLAH will help us.
