Yesterday our house got theft in the absence of my family, fortunately they were not able to break main “Safe” holding Jeweler but they took petty cash and few other things.
We are now planning to keep Jewelery in Bank Lockers and would request you to please comment whether the Bank lockers are securE? Which bank is more reliable and what is annual cost?
Some one told us not to keep jewelry in Bank Lockers as per their experience they got lost because some corrupt bank officials were involve in stealing.
Please give your comments and experience.

Any bank which is close to your place of living is safe and fine. Getting a locker is usually not easy because most of the branches have pending demands. If you have an account in the branch/bank then it is not that hard. The charges which depend on the size of the locker are usually deducted directly from your bank account. You can have the option of more than one person operating the locker. I have been using this facility for almost 30/40 years and know many who have been using it without any incident. To say that bank has fraudulently stolen any thing just can no happen. It can be operated only with TWO keys. You have one and the bank has the other. May be when you have more than one person authorized to operate it, and some one from amongst those can play mischief.Banks can only break the locker to open it. That would happen if for example you lose the key, because there is no DUPLICATE. I hope I have added some clarity to the doubt.Good Luck. |

Isnt there a loophole that rogue bank staff member make a duplicate of my key before giving locker and key to me and then when I put my stuff in use that key along with their second key to steal. I think its just based on the credibility of the bank and does not usually happen as otherwise there will be many people complaining, however I dont think it is fool proof and safe. Probably relatively safe at some banks and less safe at other banks depending on the staff and human factor. There is also a chance of an old user of the locker having made duplicate key before returning the locker and can access the area by getting new locker and steal from the old locker as I think in all or some cases the banks key may be common to more than one locker or compartment of lockers. I am not sure. If others think it is fool proof, secure and nto dependand on humans honesty or dishonesty please elaborate as it will be helpful to many. |
