Lenter Pouring,

AOA,

I need some advise while poring the lanter ROOF for ground floor the machine broke down for 2 hours.

Will this have any impact on the roof although the entire roof was completed the same day but a break of TWO hours came due to the machine (mixing cement/sand/bajree) broke and than they fixed it.

Kindly advise thank you...

Two hours braek no problem , just pure cement slurry coat apply to joint and continue, if it is one day then is problem otherwise no problem.

Two hours could be enough for the first pouring to dry to a degree that is unsafe, especially in sunny and hot weather of summer months.

For your and your family's safety you should consult with some professional Architect or Engineer. Seek at least two different professionals' opinions. It scares me to think that there may be a crack in the lanter somewhere in the middle of the ceiling of a room, not effectively supported by walls. The sheer weight of lanter has potential to bring itself down at some point. It may be a bit safer if there are several walls supporting below or around that line or "joint" area of concern where the pourings before and after the machine failure met each others.

Better be safe than sorry. You will have comfort of mind if those professionals agree that it is not a matter of concern and if otherwise they will suggest the remedy which you must follow if both say it is unsafe to take a chance.

I do agree partly with “A Reader” comments. Normally cement has 30 minutes initial setting time. This means concrete may start setting after 30minutes and 2 hours is too much for a good joint between old and new concrete.
Just to give get some idea, I suggest one simple test; pour some water and create a puddle of water at new and old concrete joint and then observe the leakage of water from below, ceiling side. If leakage is quicker like rain drops then joint is not good. If only water seepage at joint location after 15 minutes then no issue. However, even in worst case that there is no good joint between old and new concrete, the “LANTER” is safe and secure and you can sleep with peace of mind. However in case of bad joint, as shown by water leakage, roof life will reduce.
