Police, DCO to be accountable for land grabbing: Shahbaz,

LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that land-grabbing has assumed the form of an industry and there is a dire need to uproot this menace.

He said its time to intensify the ongoing campaign against land grabbing and an effective monitoring system should be evolved for continuing the efforts on a permanent basis. He said that in case of illegal occupation of land in any district in future, district police and district coordination officers concerned would be held accountable.

He was presiding over a meeting for reviewing the ongoing drive against land grabbers in the province, here on Thursday. The Chief Minister said that Punjab government has formulated a comprehensive policy for rooting out Qabza Mafia from the province and a special team headed by Tahir Ahmad Sindhu MPA has been formed for this purpose.

He said that besides state land, the activities of Qabza Mafia on private lands have created an alarming situation and land-grabbers with the collusion of concerned departments are illegally occupying valuable lands of overseas Pakistanis, purchased with their hard-earned money, they are running from pillar to post for justice.
