Zakat Calculator
Alhamdulillah, the month of Ramadhan has been bestowed upon us by Allah. ZAKAT is one of the five fundamental pillars of Islam, mandatory on all muslims who are of eligible wealth. Zakat is due from and payable by a person on his wealth (and not his income), which has remained with him/her for one Islamic year.
It is difficult to calculate the completion of one year on each item of wealth, because purchase dates may vary. To overcome this difficulty, a practical method is to fix a date (e.g. 1st of Ramadhan), compute your total wealth on that date and calculate Zakat, thereon.

dear khalid, thanks for asking such a useful question, please consult any scholar or call dr zakir niak help line u can find its number on his website , my first opinion is that u MIGHT not NEED to pay zakkat as this file is not a trade goods for u. May Allah show us right path and we all must pay zakkat with full honesty as it is described as right of Allah on us. |

I have a similar sort of a question to Khalid and will appreciate your comments. I have put in a major part of my savings in buying 20 tola gold biscuits (when gold was not this expensive) for my daughters wedding. Is zakat payable on that? Regards |

It is better to ask some scholar or some authentic websites for example (www.askimam.com or www.shariahboard.net). According to my limited knowledge. (Gold, silver, cash) irrespective of intention is zaktable. However the residential plot, if not bought with the intention of trade, is not zakatable but if it is bought with the intention of trade, then it is zakatable. Allah knows best |

First of all, I am not a scholar, but have done some reading and research. My understanding is that if you are holding the assets not a minor child and God forbid if you ever have an emergency and you can sell your assests and take care of yor urgency then you are responsible for zakat. If anyone else knows more, please do share your knowledge. |
