Roof Top Room's Development,

(67529)

I have a room on the top floor of my house. Its top is built with teen (steel) material. I want to change its top because it looks ugly. Because of the safety concerns, as recommended by an engineer, i can not build concrete ceiling/top of the room (the house infrastructure is weak). The room is 25X25 (my esitmate). Do you guys have any suggestions for developing light-weight top of this room. Because the room is on top floor so i want good design so that it doesn't look ugly to my neighbors.

Any sincere advice is welcomed.

Thanks
Ahmad

A sloped fibre glass roof with metal frame underneath will serve your purpose. Use a thicker fiber glass.

You may use Fiber with Thermal insulation. This combination is light weight, heat insulated and available in different colors and designs.
in addition it is durable.
Thermoplastic white vinyl is another option.

@Ahmad.

1. Here in UAE Polyurethene (a thermal insulation & water proofing petrolem product) is available both as sheets & liquid to be sprayed by machines. Its weight depends upon the density.
2. In your case it is advisable to use liquid spray but if you can not find that facility in Pakistan use of PU sheets with overlapping joints will be alright.
3. Inside the room you can use decorative plywood of your choice/normal plywood with wall paper to have a nice interior.

This will give you a thermally insulated, water proof, nice looking & comfortable place to enjoy.

Regards.

Thank you guys for valuable feedback.

Do you know any builder to whom i can contact in Lahore. I think someone expert can install this kind of structure on my room. I don't want to spend lakhs but thousands because i am a salaried person. Any price estimate will be very helpful.

@ AG

I don't think PU is available in Pakistan espeically spray. Also its a costly solution.

@ Ahmad,

Ad appear in newspaper daily, you need to find someone, who can prepare metal structure as roof top, that guy will also handle fibre glass top.
