Dear Mods, This is off topic but please leave it here for some time since I need this information badly.
I am presently based in middle east with family. I am planning to move my family back to Lahore next year. I do not intend to get their visas cancelled. I need to send my household items (furniture, some electronics etc) to Lahore with my family. I understand that I cannot use TR (Transfer of Residence) in this case since I am not getting the visas cancelled. Can somebody let me know of a good clearing agent who can help me out to get the above items cleared from customs at Lahore airport. What will be the procedure. How much duty do I have to pay on furniture. I am staying here for about ten years. Do I get any free allowance. Any feedback shall be appreciated.
Thanks

Get you remitance card from pakistan embassy in your country. This way you will get relaxation on custom duty upto 100,000 (depending upon your remited amount)

Book a container it will cost you about 15000 AED aprox,
Or
Go for KG plan it will cost you about 2 to 4 AED per KG.

In UAE there are lot of agents which deal you with cleared costom or you have to do clear custom, depending on the price.

I come to know through my friends that Remitance Card is useless, At Airports of Pakistan They will treat you like you are nota human if you show that card. First question they will ask you where is official letter that you will get duty free, Your answer will be that i got is through OPF right, But they will reply okay we are not OPF we need acceptance from their departmant. (this all is which i come to know through my friends if some one having good experience please share with me and others).

I sent LCL a few years ago from bahrain. The stuff goes to Karachi, gets loaded on a freight train to Lahore, gets to the dry port in lahore. You do not need an agent in pakistan, you have to book your goods through a freight forwarder / mover in the UAE. Make sure to get all the papers including the BL from the shipper alongwith full contact details of their agent in karachi and lahore. Once the goods get to lahore (and it is a very slow process), the agent will call you and advise you of the total custom duty in case you decide not to pay a bribe (which will be twice the cost of your stuff) or whatever you owe if you decide to bribe the custom officials. Unfortunately, if you decide not to bribe, you will regret your decision to send your stuff to pakistan, this is how our sweet country works. I would personally recommend you to reconsider as it is not worth it. And you can forget about the embassy custom relaxation exercise, nobody cares about this documentation in pakistan customs. This is my personal experience.

Almost all electronics are cheaper here in pakistan. Further, it is hard to get proper warranty coverage on things bought abroad, despite intl warranties. Please keep that in mind when planning your move.

AOA,
I'm retired Deputy Suprintendent from Pakistan Customs Lahore. I have read your problem. Please contact me at my email i.e and do send me inventory of all of your house goods(electric appliances inventory should be separated) after then I'll be able to guide you properly. So you don't need to worry at all. If you would contact any agent he would puzzle you because they are ignorant as they don't know any custom rules. As they lack knowledge they make the matter more complex and complicated. And also tell me the date of your last visit to Pakistan. Did you mr & mrs visit Pak in same dates? You don't need to worry at all. I'm there to help you.

Afzal Sahib, AoA

Your offer is to help/guide or is it your business and you expect some compensation? How does it work?

Regards,

You wont be able to get TR benefit if you don’t cancel the visas. Pakistani Consulate (at least in Dubai) has stopped issuing TRs from 2010 except for Cars. All you need is to show is your cancelled visas in Pakistan at Customs to avail TR benefits which frankly is not worth the effort (my personal experience). Again as somebody said earlier, it is not worth shifting anything to Pakistan as everything is available in Pakistan, cheaper and better. Keep minimum AED 15K as your budget for everything including duty. Shift only if you think your stuff is worth more than that. But at the same time expensive/new stuff will increase the duty accordingly.
