Sector G14 Islamabad - DAWN News ISLAMABAD, Nov 30: The Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) has requested the local administration to deploy Rangers in Sector G-14 for land acquisition so that the much-awaited development of the sector could be started as early as possible.
In a meeting chaired by Housing Secretary Kamran Lashari, it was decided that Rangers’ help would be sought to clear the sector from the landholders who have already been paid the cost of their land under an award announced in 2005.
However, the FGEHF has so far not paid to the locals the cost of built-up property (BUP) or their structures still existing in the sector. Under the land acquisition policy, any authority which acquires land from landholders pays both the cost of land and structures.
“The district administration assured the foundation that Rangers would be provided after Muharram, so that the award of land could be implemented in a peaceful manner,” Zafar Haider, the director finance of FGEHF, told Dawn.
He added that the foundation would start payment for BuP in a couple of weeks starting from sub-sector G-14/3. “Payment for the BuP in G-14/1 and 2 will be made in the second phase,” the official said.
The meeting was informed that some 1,000 houses existed in the whole sector whose plots had already been allotted under the foundation’s housing scheme launched for government employees and others in 2007 and the award of land was announced in 2008.
The FGEHF spokesman said the meeting decided to launch development work on the much-delayed sector from January 2012.
The report on assessment of the built-up properties falling in sub-sector G-14/3, prepared by Public Works Department, was also submitted to the FGEHF. The housing foundation has been directed to forward the list of genuine BuPs to the land
acquisition collector (DC Islamabad) for announcement of the award.
The scrutiny committee has been ordered to finalise the list of BuPs, falling in sector G-14/2, within 10 days and PWD shall carry out the assessment rates of the BuPs by December 31.
The meeting was also attended by senior officials of the local administration, police and the foundation. |
