Which direction of plots/houses are considered the most suitable to Pakistan's climate and why ?

1. North Facing
2. South Facing
3. East Facing
4. West facing

North facing in center and south Pakistan, rest all directions in north, west facing in coastal areas, cos of sun and wind directions

Aamir replied on Friday, December 2, 2011 08:40 PM

Why North Facing in centre and South of Pakistan ? is there any meteorological reason or else ?

it is called feng shui

Feng shui 風水 is a Chinese system of geometry believed to use the laws of both Heaven and Earth to help one improve life by receiving positive qi.

"What could be more absurd of imagining that the safety of a family, honors, and their entire existence must depend upon such trifles as a door being opened from one side or another, as rain falling into a courtyard from the right or from the left, a window opened here or there, or one roof being higher than another?

After People's Republic of China was established in 1949, feng shui has been officially deemed as a "feudalistic superstitious practice" and a "social evil". However, wealthy people in China still practice feng shui.

Dear Aamir

if you love greenery (Lawn) of your house, than South facing is the best. due to sun direction at most toward your green area. which help the green area looks fresh always.

Regards.

Dear Aamir

- As BaBa explained South facing is good for green lawns, only one disadvantage that even in 22 ft. long size porch your vehicle is exposed to greater sun heat over nine months. Some people use folding sunshade to overcome this problem but it does not give nice look as after 3~4 months cloth gets dirty & also color fades. In noth facing even 14 ft. long porch works well.

I think North oriented houses are more suitable due to plenty of ventilation, energy efficiency, least exposure to Sun and lower structural ambient temp in summers...etc. Any alternate views...

I live south facing house. These days sun light is wondering all around the house, so if you love big windows plenty of sunshine in winter and greenery, south facing is best, in summer you can use thick curtains and insulated front wall is enough.
North facing rooms of my house are always dark, mosquitoes infested and like old hindu houses.

Aamir replied on Sunday, December 4, 2011 04:01 PM

So, South facing is best for three months of winters in Pakistan

Aslam replied on Monday, December 5, 2011 02:37 AM

brother Aamir, it is not that south facing is best for only 3 months. With sun low on the horizon in winter you get sunshine for most of the day during winter time. In Summers, the sun is high up on the horizon so you do not get excessie sun.

JUJ1 replied on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 12:13 PM

Dear Aslam bhai
Thanks for clarification. No sun in summer as sun goes eight above head, and it will do that anyway.

Arshad replied on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 04:28 PM

So, south facing is best when you want a green lawn and winter heat. For summer you should build shades in such a way that the windows are not exposed to direct sun. Something also called passive solar design. Also use insulation in south and west walls. Though it will cost a but will make your life comfortable.

North facing - No good!!
