Dear Experts,
I am wondering if there is anything that can be done during construction to make roof, sound proof I would be constructing a house with the aim of renting out the upper portion. I would like to minimize the sounds coming into ground portion, for example because of kids playing or running in upper portion.
Any experience ?

You can't do much during construction. What all you can do is after the construction; do not rent out to those who have small kids avoid making rental agreement for more than 11 months. |

Prior to this that I write and give you suggestion on sound proof deck I would like to state a true incident. In a villa I am living on Ist and an other family named Khawaja sahib lives on ground floor. One day my kids called their friends at home and it was like a big gathering in which kids were playing listening music and running around in small groups and certainly making noise.
I went to bed at about midnight where as kids were still playing, when we had a phone call of Khawaja Sahib in which he asked about me. My wife told her he is sleeping. Where as Kawaja sahib was complaining for the noise in which he is not able to sleep. When my wife explained the situation to kids to keep them salient they were surprised if uncle can sleep within us what is wrong with Khawaja Sahib on ground floor.
I believe it is matter of attitude and habits you get use to. Try to adjust your self.
Sound through concrete deck should not be an issue for a normal person and to me it looks over sensitivity of your.
Coming to the solution to make sound proof deck.
Use soft board sheets under side of concrete deck. It is available in 18mm thickness and you can double it to improve density and then place gypsum board ceiling which will enhance decoration as well as work for sound proofing.

Above post is clear indication of whats going on in our country. Where nobody is ready to do anything to provide comfort to others and specially (neighbours) and other country men (which is the basis of our religion). Everybody wants others to be kind and caring to their needs and they forget their duty towards being the good citizen, neighbour or a good human being. Common day to day examples of giving way to pedestrians , not parking or throwing anything in front of neighbors doors or holding the door to kids or others while going through a door :not going through the red light even when nobody is watching, or making sure to end the party before 10 or lowering the noise to minimum in respect to neighbors and elders etc ect. West has learned all these lessons and way far ahead of any country in making sure that these basic teachings are given from the very childhood to the kids so that they grow up into the responsible citizens frist thajn anything else. No offence to anyone, as alredy mentioned above |

It usually is not a big issue.It is typical in western countries where the house/floors are all wooden to feel some affect of person walking or floor creaking from the upper floor. People however in our part are comparatively less conscientiousness about it. The noise situation can arise once in a while when there is some party etc. You can apart from the suggested solution, put a clause in your lease agreement to address this issue.
The overall noise level even of normal talking or discussion is louder. |

By creating space between the slab and floor you can achieve the goal.. on the slab of GF put 5 inches of Brick Ballast(Rori) and then PCC (KACHA) and then marble tile. this will do the sound proofing |
