Dear Experts,

Sorry, my question is not related to real estate but I hope it is not too irrelavant to this site:

Wonder if anyone could give suggestion on whether to go for central heating system which is run on gas using a boiler and pump or to opt for normal gas heaters for every room. which option is best suited economically and safely while considering our winters and gas pressure issues.

Regards

R. Khan

Uses of radiators with gas and boilers are in these days.
A company having there showroom in front of DHA-2 Islamabad ( I am missing their name ) is well renown has a team that visit sites or calculate on map and quote there prices for job and it is not too expensive but very safe.

Burning Gas heater are not advisable at all especially when one is asleep.

Mr jk, what is the approx installation charges in 50*90 house and gas bill per room/heater.

jk replied on Thursday, December 22, 2011 01:47 PM

Cooper radiators are ideal aluminum is number 2 while mettle is cheapest.

Not only the expensive will lost longer but will have less maintenance as well. It will cost you from 3 to 5 lack for a 1K double story house

Pakistan is worst place to live,no security, law and order even have not basic things.Public deserve for that.

Aamir replied on Friday, December 23, 2011 11:37 AM

@atiq raja: I beg to disagree that Pakistan is worst place to live but you are right that public deserves that, since we are the one who elect the type of leaders who have brought the country to this dismal situation.

@ atiq raja ... It is very easy to point out things. What have you done to make the worst place(as u said) into the best place. What is ur contribution to make Pakistan a best place to live? If nothing, then u don't have right to say anything. Do ur best to make this land best, so that on the day of judgement u could say I DID MY BEST.

@ atiq raja
At least you are honest and say how you feel. I respect that.

@ boss-sk
I agree with you. Pakistan can be the wonder of this world. However we the 18 million people are not right. Time to look deep down in our souls.

Central heating is very expensive in monthly bills, per my neighbour who installed it in his house. Depends on the number of rooms where you want the radiators. You do not have to warm your whole house but can use it any room/rooms where you want. Installation is not a huge cost, approx. 3-3.5 lakhs but monthly bills are very high. Gas heaters are more affordable and practical.

Yes, there is gas in most parts of the country. The CNG stations are the problem and they need to be shut down. If people cannot afford petrol, they should use public transport, like in scandinavian countries.

Pakistan is the best place to live in with the most talented people, and the people do not deserve to live in miserable conditions. We just need to think who we elect in the next election, take responsibility for our actions, do our part and start paying taxes.

Atiq Raja may be sitting in a central heated apartment somewhere in the west and trying to blend in locally where ever he is, with ESL classes as a first step, but he would be naive, not to know that he would be looked over with suspicion day in and day out and subject to racial profiling and discrimination. Even obtaining a foreign passport, changing your name to a John Ray, or celebrating Christmas instead of Eid would not resolve that problem.

Although there may be shortage of gas here, but people that have seen and experienced both places, would rather be in their homeland despite some problems, and most do opt for the option of settling back in Pakistan once they have some financial stability or a decent job offer. The ones that are lucky get the chance sooner, and unfortunately the rest keep planning and discussing the option till they live, and unfortunately see their kids / future generation get away from the religion, culture and values right infront of their eyes. At times, they cannot move back because their kids do not want to move back. There are exception, but this is the story of most people overseas. The critics of Pakistan overseas are mostly those people that cannot move back due to either current financial conditions, children/other half do not want to move back becuase they were born there, or unfortunately belonged to a very poor family background in Pakistan, and to them, a central heating/cooling system, a new financed car, a 25-30 years mortgaged house of their own, a bank credit card means success. Once again, we are talking about statistics and not exceptions.

I strongly agree with bhi "Central Heating system".

Staying abroad for a long time and holding US or UK nationality or passport in your pocket doesn't mean you enjoy the same respect as Americans or English have. You are always considered as 2nd or 3rd class citizens in these countries. This I am telling you with my own learning and observations. I am abroad since last 12 years for my job exigencies and travelled almost every corner of the word but I never feel comfortable and homely despite lots of money which I earned. I have many of my close relatives and friends who settled in Canada, US or Australia for a better future but they all love and miss Pakistan every moment. Why they miss Pakistan ? because they got the passport and money but no respect, no social status and happiness. They work day and night for money only and feel something missing in their lives.

Please keep in mind, Pakistan is our love, destiny and everything. Where ever we live or work is temporary. This is true that our infrastructure is not good, our roads and streets are dirty, economy is in bad shape due to corrupt and bad governess but this is our responsibility to correct and eradicate these ills, work hard and make our country and nation strong. We should invest all our resources in Pakistan where we have every sense of ownership, freedom, respect, traditions and our own social and moral values.

Allah bless our nation and Pakistan, Insha Allah.

Sorry for talking off the topic.

With all the respect to everyone, i want to add that Pakistan is not the worst place but we are the worst people who brought it to this level just for our personal advantages. I am working abroad since 27 years and first time in my life I see hope about our future in Pakistan. It is not because of PTI, PMLNm PPPP or any other but from the realisation and awakening of the middle class.

Pakistan is our Land, our Love, our hope, our future and a challenge on us to fix it. Before saying anything about Pakistan keep in mind when Pakistan was liberated we don't had any industry even cloth was rationed and no paper was available for office use, still there are some official orders/documents written on the back of envelops could be found in national archives and now we can produce and export 100's of items.
