HSBC Closing its Operation in Pakistan????,

I checked on FT and other news sources that HSBC is in talk to close down its business in Pakistan...

I have account with them in Pakistan and lives overseas , what will happen to its customers in case they cease their operation?

Their opearations are being sold to another bnak. At present, MCB and KASB are interested. So your acocunt will be there, but with a new bank.

Too bad, I was thinking taking my early retirement from USA and moving back to Pakistan. I was thinking of using HSBC to have my pension be deposited and withdrawal in Pakistan. Now I need to find out about another bank. Does anyone knows any USA base bank also operate in paksitan and either no or minimum monthly charges?

HSBC has decided to close operations in Pakistan (along with a few other countries) and has put its Pakistan operations up for sale. For the account holders, it will be business as usual. These kind of sales have happened before when banks like Bank of America, Royal Bank of Scotland, ABN-AMRO pulled out. No change in accounts / lockers etc. @Mr. Khan, HSBC would have given you no advantage over any other bank. The money transfer process is same between HSBC US to HSBC Pakistan as it is between HSBC US to any other Pakistani bank. You cannot withdraw funds from US bank directly from Pakistan. The way of doing it is to present a cheque of US account in your local bank and it takes anywhere between 2-4 weeks for funds to get transferred.

By end of October HSBC will be winding up in Pakistan.....i am working for Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan as a Preferred Relationship Manger and also looking after priority banking . pls feel free to contact me if any one needs to bank with SCB pakistan .
